Back to more pressing matters, HVB has added Passionfruit silhouette crowlers to their beermenus page.

Damn, it's just beer. Stop taking it so fucking seriously. Waiting in a brewery parking lot at 7am and drinking craft beer on a Saturday isn't for me, just not for me. But if people want to spend their Saturday doing that, that's their choice and they're free to do that. Instead, if I need beer I peruse instagram to see which brewery will have stock after noon time and go to it, and wait in a minimal line, if there is even a line.

I do have a problem with people waiting all morning for beer, and then trying to resell it at a markup to other people, but that's a whole nother discussion.

*Not saying that's what people are doing at HVB or anything

I think this has been reiterated before but you don't need to line up, just grab a ticket beforehand and come back when you think your number will be up or just show up right after the initial rush and you'll get some cans most weeks and guaranteed crowlers probably every week.

Sorry if it appears that I'm "downplaying" drinking and driving that certainly wasn't my intention. My exaggeration was for effect and obviously missed it's mark for you...lol. But the fact is it's set upon us in our culture. You go out to eat and grab a few drinks with friends, bars, restaurants and now Brewery's legally serving. There is a legal limit for operating a vehicle... like I really need to remind anyone? The idea that anyone would ignore this so obvious a fact is ridiculous. And yes... it is my personal experience because I'm actually there and know what goes on so I can say based on facts... not conjecture.

Oddly enough I think it's ironic that someone would seriously raise this concern on a single post describing an in person experience in a forum in a blog space called "Beer Advocate"... lol Like I haven't seen so many more much worse in a multitude of threads in the Blog.

I'm going to be at HVB for the first time on Saturday to get out of the city for a night with the wife (hopefully, going to pick up a bunch of crowlers). We are probably going to Uber around once we are there. Are any of the closer breweries good stops to make or no (Newburgh, 2 Way). Anything else we should check out while in/around Beacon? (Sorry if this is off-topic, but figured the HVB crew would know best).

I may be mistaken, but isn't Uber not available in the Hudson Valley? at least in my Hudson Valley town (one that's not small) there's never any Uber available when I open the app.

Well that would put us in quite the pickle, eh?

Edit: just checked the app and there are like 6 in the area

I’ve used Uber in Beacon before, never had any issues.

i guess it's just Warwick/Chester then. zero Uber's available of any type in the numerous times I've tried in those towns, so i assumed the upstate/HV Uber "ban" was still in effect. good to know re: Beacon Uber though.

This is oddly specific but if you want or "need" coffee before or after HVB, I can't say enough good things about Trax Espresso which is very close to the brewery. Great little place for affordable and solid coffee options.

Stock Up is a nice "fancy deli" of sorts that has one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had (and I travel a lot). They also have 4 or 5 good local draft and a solid bottle/can selection.

Draught Industries is a VERY solid beer bar with a great taplist and very good food as well. This is almost sight distance from Hudson Valley Brewing. Stock Up in maybe another .5 miles or so from there.

Quinn's is also cool, with solid ramen (people swear by the cold ramen, and it is unique) and they have 5 or 6 solid draft lines and a very nice craft can selection. This is about 3 blocks from Draught Industries.

2-Way Brewing is solid and not walkable (this time of year) from HVB. They've come a long way in the last few years, but they're not reinventing the wheel there. Worth a pop in if you have time. I'd recommend the Irish Stout on Nitro or the cider.

I stopped at Draught Industries last time I was in the area. Really solid.

If you like Belgians then consider checking out the sibling to Draught Industries: The Dutchess Biercafe

And those first three recommendations are walkable from Draught Industries, so that alleviates Uber's.

Can't say enough good things about Stock Up... if this were in NYC it would be constantly packed. The fried chicken sandwiches are amazing but so is everything else they make, the daily specials in particular are always outstanding.

Also piggy backing off the current topic. It'll be my first time going up to HV tomorrow. Is there a lot I can park in for free during the day and explore the town as well? Thinking of visiting the Dia:Beacon, Hudson Valley, Trax Coffee as pointed out above, and maybe trying a cocktail at Denning's Point Distillery.

There is a muni lot off main street. If you're going up from HVB, it would be behind the second set of buildings on the left going up main. Most of the parking along Main is 2hr.

Hey guys~! I'm going to visit Hudson Valley Brewing. Is there a case that you can't get a band even if you arrive before noon at the brewery? What time do they usually sell out? Please let me know if you have any experience
