Return: Cognac BA Coffee Dark Lord '15 .... probably every bit as good as VBDL '15 that year.
Never again: Dia Oscuro?? Never had it, but it just sounds disgusting and reviews seem to reflect that.

 

Any issues bringing 3L bottles into DLD?

 

I will venture to say that's the first time this question has been asked in all of the years of DLD threads. And its one I don't have an answer to. Its technically over the limit, but i'm sure you could get in with it (but don't quote me). I'd say just pop it when you're in line and about 5 minutes away from entry. See who accepts the challenge.

They allow Belgian bottles...or do you mean LLL?

 

I would like to see a higher bottle count on regular BA DL. I enjoyed that every bit as much as HJ, Chemtrail, FVM..

 

Regular BADL is already regarded as a very high quality straight up, no-adjunct BA imperial stout... and I still think it's underrated and under-appreciated! I was able to finally have it thanks to @croush bringing it to a share.

I had high expectations for it going into that share, and it exceeded them.

 

So the Answer is a total fraud capitalizing on smoothies and pastry stouts? LOL

I had no idea that's how the Answer operated...I've only had one beer form them. a stout that had hazelnut coffee in it and it was in line at side project in the freezing cold so I was just happy to have something with booze in it.

 

FVM 2018 poll:

-Muscat barrels again?
-back to Brandy barrels?
-a different barrel (for the third time in as many years)?
-or they don't release it at all?

Should definitely be the Brandy, Armagnac, keep it French!

 

The lower bottle count on that is weird to me. It's well regarded, "safe" in that I don't think too many people would be pissed if they got it, and they don't have the added cost/effort of adjuncts. But they only had like 600-something bottles of it last year and it's usually a thousand or less. Why not do 2 or 3 thousand? Is it because the other 2 standard ones are also bourbon barrel?

 

How do I get an invite to the next one? Is the password Dragon Abortion?

 

Definitely brandy/cognac or bourbon. Preferably the former because Handjee is also bourbon. Rum might be interesting.

I was unaware of The Answer’s MO as well. I had a crowler of Triple Dry Hopped Larceny from them not too long ago and thought it was pretty tasty. I haven’t delved into the stuff that they apparently produce second hand. I’ll still be on the lookout for their stuff at DLD.

 

As far as I know, their IPAs are theirs, so there's that, they're there their thayer.
