or it could just be paranoia due to the lack of consistency in state laws. better safe than sorry kinda thing. breweries have been told different things by different people. and everyone knows from past experiences, that the PALCB is not to be taken lightly.

that was exactly Jean's response earlier in the thread.

"We do not fill other brewery's growlers, as the PLCB laws are really quite vague on the issue. I'd rather play it safe than make a misstep with the State. That's it and that's all folks."

I don't get it. How is the brewery's stated reason for it's own actions more valid than internet forum speculation?

Well, disregarding the name of the thread, I was referring to breweries/brewpubs in general.

wow...thirty kegs...I must not know all the secret, unlicensed hiding places that kegs are now being stored-or possibly my perception of the size of the cooler is WAY off, but there were never thirty kegs in that whole place to begin with.

Also, just as a point of interest, if you'd like, I can recite for you the exact list of 15 kegs that I left behind when I moved on from my former position. And boy, I hope Tom Peters and the guys at the Farmer's Cabinet know that Hof ten Dormaal Bruin, Stillwater As Follows, and the B-United Zymatore project releases are things that nobody wants...maybe you should give them a call and offer your stunning business acumen to them.

And lastly, I think this topic is misplaced in this thread.

Did anyone go to Tired Hands on Halloween and try "the creature from the black lagoon?" I can't wait to try it on Tuesday at the beer dinner!

"about 30 kegs" = a hyperbole :astonished:. Judging from your ...... and commas thrown all over the place, your gonna have to look that word up.

Now please tell me Beer whisperer, what is tired hands' stance on purchasing and consuming growlers on site?

I'm not detecting sarcasm so I'll go ahead and answer this one. I know of no place that allows you to fill and consume on site, at least not in PA. Tired Hands is no different.

Just out of curiosity...why the fuck would anyone buy a growler on site, then consume it there too?

Beyond that...whether it's allowed or not, I've never even heard of anyone who has ever expressed a need or desire to do this.

Plus you don't get much of a discount really, so it's not worth it.

Mr. Centennial, I recommend the next time you try to rip someone for not understanding/using the English language properly, be sure to check your own writing. It's "you're going to," not "your gonna." Just sayin'.

    I don't know man...

    Exaggerates numbers
    Gets called out
    Calls it hyperbole

Attacks poster about proper grammar use and uses improper grammar
    Gets called out
    Calls it sarcasm

But really I would just like to see this thread go back to the informative and constructive discussion regarding Tired Hands, not personal attacks and grammar ****-ing. So... How about the upcoming Kvass? Good to see styles not typically seen in the US market getting some attention. Especially off the wall, or as Jean would say "forward thinking" styles.

Had the pleasure of receiving several pours of Zombie from a growler over the weekend. This shit is great. Planning to swing by now and try all the others. Love that you can sample them all for less than $30. Brewpubs that allow/encourage small pours are tops.

I wish every place that sold draft beer had a system predicated around something like 4, 8, and 12 ounce pours.

I don't even know how this thread got onto that topic, but the benefit to drinking growlers on-site is because they're almost always cheaper per ounce than glasses of the same beerskis. That's why most places don't allow it. I've done it with a group before; it's kind of fun...like getting beer family style. The only place in PA that I know of that does do it is the newly opened and wonderfully delicious Fette Sau in Fishtown.
