FWIW they have their session NEIPA out right now and it's a lot better than Baby Fleeb

Had it on Saturday and was actually really impressed. Went in expecting something like Baby Fleeb but it far exceeded my expectations.

Is it any different from the first time it was brewed? I've always felt Platform has an issue going from their small batch brewhouse to their large batch at Gypsy. I'm actually going to try it on draft today because I absolutely loved it back in November.

I had a can of Bucket of Gloves yesterday, tasted kinda bland. Some bitter, yeasty flavor but no fruit.

I thought it was very OK as well. Much preferred Haze Jude from them.

So, basically, the exact same beer Platform has been pushing under a myriad of guises over the last couple years.

Good to know I can still keep Platform firmly in "off-my-radar" status.

Their first batch of Bucket of Gloves last year was superb and completely different than any other IPA they had put out before. This batch was brewed on a bigger system and by a different brewer, so it's likely pretty different than the good batch last year.

Haze Jude was surprisingly solid and probably the only reason I was willing to give Gloves a shot

I did not care for haze Jude very much. To me it tasted like every other ipsa platform makes. I think bucket of gloves is actually good.

I wanted to push back on this a little. For what it is, Julius is a pretty perfect NE IPA. Extremely pillowy body with a really fitting name, as it calls to mind Orange Julius flavors pretty well, with no harsh or bitter flavors at all—obviously this is not going to satisfy a classic IPA fan, but it is what it is.

That said, I found Saucy’s to be maybe closer to Trillium, with a good bitter bite and a chewy dryness. However, there's not that acidic yeast often found in Trillium IPAs, but there is a significant oatiness that runs through the nose and taste. Because of that I’d compare it more to Tired Hands than anything else. It was surprisingly good though, a successful first effort.

Thing is, that's in spite of themselves. I've had a number of downright bad beers by them. Last night even. The coconut porter was pretty meh. And the coconut IPA was vomit-worthy--it didn't taste like beer, or even coconut, at all, but more like fish food and frisbee plastic. The fact that they will happily put stuff like this on draft and sell it to customers solidifies my stance that I will not purchase or seek out any of their packaged product. If someone wants to have a pizza and really must go to Saucy, I'll happily join them because their pies are pretty good, and at this point I know which drafts don't suck...but that's about it.

That's interesting, I had the coconut IPA when I was there a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty tasty. Maybe it's taken a turn for the worse though. One thing I don't understand there is how the bartenders are taught to do full pours. I watched multiple times as the bartender would start filling a glass, and they had the correct angle tilt to minimize foam. Then about halfway through they just put the glass on the counter so the beer would shoot in and foam up, causing an enormous head. It was most noticeable on the IPA's, since they use the Spieglau IPA glass. Every pour had like a 2 inch head on it. I'd be pissed if I was given that as a "pint".

Is anyone at the Masthead release? Are they sold out already? I was thinking of heading down for a 4 pack of Fruit Blood if they weren’t sold out.

I can't answer that, but there is a Masthead thread now. For better or worse.
