I've gone during the week after the past few years (helps when I have work meetings in Merrillville!) and regular Dark Lord has always been on.

 

Woa, there is a day after? I thought the whole industrial park gets shut down afterwards until FEMA can get in there and cleanup....

 

What's weird is I've never actually had a coffee that gives off a green pepper taste, only beers with coffee. (BCBCS, Maple Shade, and 17 FVM)

Would this be similar to the Aquavit-barreled version? Anyone in here try the aquavit?

 

I have one at home...probably a good idea I actually open and try it before I jump on the Absinthe train.

You'd be better off going the evening before. Day after is always super busy. Especially when you're hung over

 

No, absinthe= liquorice or anise flavor while aquavit has an herbal flavor, dill or carraway. I enjoyed the aquavit like any DL variant, including vanilla, it is delicious in a moderate 4-6oz pour, anything else and you are asking for too much...

That and the waiters/waitresses might just want to murder you. A couple of years ago I went to the brewpub the next morning and the waitress looked about as hungover as I did. I bet she had the same splitting headache as I did from the day before.

Regarding the "green pepper" comments...
I had never experienced this phenomena until I was at a beer fest this winter. As soon as the gates to the festival opened my friend and I went straight over to the tent that had 2016 Goose Island BCBS Coffee on tap. We were both very disappointed as the beer literally tasted like green pepper. I couldn't get past a few sips and just slammed the rest of the sample. I've had plenty of the 16 BCBS Coffee as well as many other coffee beers out there and never experienced the green pepper flavor until this. Almost everyone in line was saying the same thing. I'm pretty sure @BigKev23 had the same experience.

 

That's how you appropriately dispose of a beer you don't care for at a fest...well done.
