probably slim. We've had two shake releases and a void release over the past 3 weeks or so.. shakes as recently as Thursday. Probably looking at a Wednesday release of Alien Church and hopefully something like Found A Scythe..

Maybe Refreshing? There was a lot of those labels visible when I went in for last week's release.

I love Refreshing, maybe my 3rd favorite beer they do. When fresh, it's freaking fantastic.

PS: I have my first undrinkable TH can last week. Rose'. Worst beer I've ever had from them.

Yeah - I agree, that beer was way too much like Hawaiian Punch for me, haven’t had it since first release

I am big fan of Rose... I feel like you gotta like hibiscus. Its typically a love/hate with most people.

I love it. You have to like dry floral stuff, though. I’ll trade you alien church or something simple for it.

Hi folks. I'm making my first trip to Tired Hands end of April (27th and 28th). I know PA beer laws are a little wonky so I would appreciate if you guys could give me the scoop. There's three locations and from what I can grab two (Fermentaria and Brew Cafe) serve food and both serve different Tired Hands beer than the other. Then there's also a general store. Have a couple quesitons...

Assuming there's an IPA can release that weekend (crossing fingers) how early do you have to get in line to get full allotments?

Am I right that each location serves different TH beer and if so which one would better serve a hop head like myself?

If I wanted to buy some merch, is that what the general store is for?

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Weekend releases are generally Shakes, but they also tend to make a lot. The answer depends on how long you (or your chair) want to wait in line. Don't mind waiting 2+ hours? Go
any time up until like opening and almost certainly be gauranteed beer. Don't want to wait? Go at like 2 and have a chance at leftovers.

    2. Each location serves different beer, and -while you should definitely visit both and please give their non-IPAs a serious try- the Ferm is probably more up your alley.

    3. Yes.

They have changed a bit in the past couple years - all beer distributors can now sell singles and 6 packs if they want to. Bars and select grocery stores can still only sell 192 oz in total per transaction.

State laws do not require a branded growler, but some breweries like Tired Hands and Sole are lame and will only fill branded glass.

Breweries are allowed to serve PA wine, cider, and spirits with no additional license. So if you have a non-beer drinker with you - most breweries now have a couple alternative options.
They do maintain a fairly current online taplist for both facilities, so you can check it out the day before you head down:

Can I bring a non Tired Hands growler, or will they only sell to me if it's a Tired Hands growler?

They will trade in, or you need to buy a branded one. So if you have an old glass growler you don't need, that's fine. If you have a vacuum or stainless growler, no dice.

They also recently added a crowler machine at the Brew Cafe and there was some discussion about how that affected pricing of growlers and such, but I don't know the details.

You can also purchase beer there as well. Canned beers (4-packs) and bottles.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the offer, but I got only a single can from my daughter who made the release that day since I missed it. Good thing too.

Just curious, which of your questions have anything to do with state liquor laws? They seem like general questions for any brewery visit.

Over 400 cases behind the bar as of 8pm, has to be a record.

Seems like quite a bit of today’s release might be available tomorrow. I’ll be in from out of town for my monthly visit to a nearby job site and thinking I may stop by to take some goodies home. My flight home is later than usual but I may only have an hour at most with the timing of my day - should I expect any kind of a line if I’m there around opening? I’m hoping to at least have a beer or two while I’m there too, if possible. Thanks!
