I've never had a bad experience at Cycle. They've been pretty gracious in the past with me even. Admittedly I'm easy to please though. Don't leave me hanging trying to get another drink for 5 minutes and we're good. I'm not gonna ask questions about a beer when you're busy, I'm not gonna want samples, and I'm not ordering flights (n/a in Cycle's case).

 

I have never had a bad experience with the staff at AC. There are one or two that are sarcastic but are always being so with a smile. Cycle on the other hand, it really is like they think there beer is too good for us.

 

We were the first and only two people in the door last Monday, they had two bartenders on and I still had to flag one of them down to try and get a second beer... because they were on the other side of the bar eating lunch.

And as for the asking questions about the beer when they're busy/knowing what you want already, totally agree, but this was nobody else in the place and the beer had no description whatsoever. Couple that with the fact you can only get a full $12 pour... and it'd be nice to not be playing russian roulette. For instance... my fiance usually can't stand cinnamon in stouts, so even just knowing cinnamon was in the first cuvee would have been all she needed from the bartender.

It is what it is, since we live in NE Ohio, where the weather is complete shit 8 months out of the year, all we need is a place to sit outside in the sun to be happy and that's what we can always get there at least.

AC is in stark contrast to Cycle. AC has always been awesome, every bartender has been engaging, funny, and legitimately good at their job even when it's REALLY busy. It's the one taproom we will never miss when we're in the area.

 

Has anyone tried the BAIGCCS B1 recently? From what I can tell from most tasting notes, the B1 is more coconut heavy and the B2 is more chocolate heavy. Are people still getting the coconut from B1? If were to go after B1, would it be a shell of its former self? Or has it held up pretty well for a year? I am also curious about what happens to coconut in a beer like this after a year. I had a Prop 14 about a year and a half after its release and I got tons of coconut. But some have suggested that the coconut didnt hold up well in BAIGCCS B1. If the main difference is coconut versus chocolate, I would much rather try the B1 if its holding up.

 

Personal observation, it seems to me that GI imparted coconut in their beer via a far different method than AC, considering the visible coconut lipids in AC's, which, rest assured, are undetectable on the palate. Many folks mistake them for actual coconut flakes, but they're not.

 

Do you guys prefer BA Rocky Road or Til My Tape Pop?

 

Slightly different beasts...Tape Pop way higher abv you taste the barrel more than in Rocky Road...having said that RR is delicious :-)

 

"Secret" release of Purple Puffs yesterday afternoon. 2pp limit, so it may stick around for a couple of days - cooler was about 2/3 full last night...

 

Nice, totally about to be ISO. Was weird as hell, but a friend saw the picture I took and the color on that head hypnotized them.

 

Damn...I need a friend down there for help haha

Completely agree on cycle. Was in there a week or two after BA day and they were loaded with the cuvee’s. Asked for some sort of a description and they had no idea. Asked to try for a small sample and they said no samples on ba beers. I was sort of stunned by the total lack of customer service. The guy seemed completely annoyed that I was even asking any sort of question. Ordered one, and thankfully the guy next to me at the bar said it was a chili stout which was exactly what i did not want, so I switched to something different.

 

So much for that!
