My preferred intake method is the butt chug anyway. Anyone bringing a beer bong to DLD?

Not sure how I forgot Beer Geeks, considering I live walking distance. Geeks doesn't have an event posted, but usually they do have big taps on Friday and Saturday of DL.

Re: 18th Street, I will say that probably the most memorable beer I've ever had was their BA coconut hunter a few years ago. Also, I second One Trick Pony.

Yeah, I gotcha. Some friends have said similar things. I can't comment as I only have gotten beer to go from the Hammond spot.

Hell there's a Holiday Inn that's a short walk across a parking lot from The Open Bottle. Rent a car, take The Open Bottle shuttle to and from the fest, crash at the hotel. I'm saying all of this not knowing if there is vacancy at that hotel. I'd imagine there is since it's apart of the Tinley Park convention center.

Jager's so cold the barrels would give the Dark Lord freezer burn.

Beer Geeks will have a Modern Times takeover DLD weekend. Orderville IPA, Fruitlands, Booming Rollers IPA, New Atlantis, Dragonsong and BBA Devil’s Teeth. Starts at 3pm

Don't forget Chicago Craft Beer Week starts DLD weekend. They're now calling it "Illinois Craft Beer Week," technically, to include more breweries around the state. You can always find great stuff on tap during CCBW.

I really like 18th Street beer but the level of service at the Hammond location is not good, especially like everyone says, if you sit outside. The staff sometimes is not very knowledgeable about the beer. I took a friend there from out of town and was very embarrassed about it when he asked the server some basic questions about what was on tap. The funny thing is, I think the location has so much potential to really allow 18th Street to step out of the shadow of 3F.

Wow, that’s definitely something people should be checking out. I never would’ve thought a place I’d never heard of in NWI would be having a Modern Times takeover (no disrespect meant at all to Beer Geeks, it’s just not a place I think I’ve seen mentioned on the boards before). I would love it if somewhere here in the city had something like that.

Interesting, didn't know that...wonder if that contributes to some of the hotel bookings, although I doubt its anything like TBBW. Any idea of events occurring?

Not yet, but they're using this website this year: http://www.illinoisbeer.org/icbw
They will begin adding events to that site on 4/18.

Last year, when I was still living in Chicago, Goose tapped a different bourbon county variant pretty much every day of the week, some un-bottled variants, so that occupied most of my time. There were also plenty of bars around town that tapped some pretty great beers and also plenty of new local stuff. But many breweries/craft beer bars bring out some heavy hitters during this week.

Nah, Chicago Craft Beer Week has been becoming less and less popular. No way a significant number of people travel from out of town for it. They have been looking for ways to make the week relevant again.

Maybe the ticketed events, but all the local bars putting on whales they advertise on the CCB site seem to blow the taps pretty damn quick.
