Seems to be an underappreciated part of the city. I'm in the Stapleton section, which is kind of run down at the moment, but you can see signs of rejuvenation, too. It kind of reminds me of a few years ago when I was working in Red Hook and saw that whole area revitalized during the time that I was there.

 

Now this is a goddamn post right here! Probably your best one ever.

Hope that crunk juice is tasting good. Drinking that whole growler and getting piss drunk is probably the best idea for tonight I would say.

 

Finback collab with the terrific Alvarado Street Brewery, "freshly" IPA. Finally warm enough for some outdoor beer at dusk.

Daily lager review courtesy of @The-Adjunct-Hippie. Excellent stuff! Fantastic lasting head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, and light honey/nutty malts; with some herbal, grassy, light peppery noble hops. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very bready/grainy malt mouthfeel with some sticky hops. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5%. Perfectly clean lagering. Site style label is wrong, this tastes perfectly of Munich Helles lager. Nicely rich clean Pils malt showcase, with solid noble hop presence/balance. I love it! 4.03


Another from TAH. Excellent American porter! Fantastic head retention/lacing. Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, and herbal/grassy/peppery hops. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/grassy/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; very creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops and chalky char roast. Lightly increasing bitter/roast dryness, never acrid/astringent. Very drinkable, 6%. Really impressed all around. Very rich for the ABV with great porter malt complexity; with solid earthy hop balance that isn't overdone. Really spot on stuff. 4.01

BCBS 2017. Wow, enjoying this one more than two I had in December.

We had hail drifts this morning, thunderstorms later in the day, lots of rain, then a blizzard warning starts in about 2 minutes. Supposed to get 10-14" of snow, wind up to 50 MPH, power outages, etc. Everything is shutting down including the interstates. You know you're from Wisconsin when...a blizzard is coming, so you go get gas for the snowblower AND the grill. We'll be grilling burgers for lunch on Sunday. And I won't be running out of beer!

 

I think this is as good or even better than Nugget Nectar...yep, I said it...cheers!

 

I capped the big stout that I was drinking. I need the loving embrace of an IPA. I need to get LARRRGE!
