I think it’s time for the “is Three Floyd’s a Chicago Brewery or Indiana Brewery” argument

Well, NWI is part of Chicagoland so there's that.

Is Munster a Chicago Suburb? Let's have that argument while we're at it.

Isn’t Munster a suburb of Gary?

When 18th Street was Gary only, the place always seemed to be packed. Now there is little buzz over either location. Since moving to Hammond, the brewery has gone almost exclusively to IPAs (and their Sour Note goses to a lesser degree). In the last two years, few of the IPA offerings have been much above average. I really miss the Hunter variants.

I was always one of the guys in line every time they released a new Hunter variant......the good old days....I don't even remember the last time I went to 18th. Probably shortly after they opened the Hammond facility.

On a serious note, anyone know any for sure variants?
And Gary is Gary, no one wants to claim that city lol.

Variants haven’t been released by FFF so anything anyone mentions on here is pure speculation unless it comes from @theburden who doesn’t really seem to post on these boards that much anymore.

I am rarely negative on here but 18th Street is a joke. They are overpriced... bitches bank and imperial blud non-BA stouts for $20... please At least Dark Lord has earned the notoriety over the years plus the event makes the price worth it. I am still bitter from the overpriced Barrel Massacre. Hopefully he fixed that but I won’t set foot in 18th Street again.

You were probably one of the 5-10 guys lined up with me for hazelnut vanilla.

While I get this is mostly a joke, and I don't hope to insert too much reality into a thread about expensive beer, I taught middle school in Gary for several years helping me to connect to the city's leaders, youth, and plight in a way that wasn't a two dimensional caricature shaped by news outlets and stereotypes.

Not claiming Gary is a part of the problem. Declining production of American steel, industrial pollution, white flight, de facto community and school segregation have left an isolated community with so few opportunities that we expect people to pull themselves up with bootstraps when they can't afford boots.

And just to elucidate, in anticipation of inevitable "yeah buts," these hardships don't justify crime and unemployment rates, they just to explain them.

Same. I think the canning of Hunter has mostly been a flop. The last Coffee Hunter was great, but vanilla, the cinnamon vanilla, and coconut cinnamon were unmemorable. The last standard Hunter seemed so much different, tasting more like a roasty Dark Horse stout.

Hammond will pull me in here and there to grab a new IPA, but, similarly, I'm not blown away too often.

Sadly I missed that one. Really wanted that one too. All of the Hunters that I have had were pretty great, so I have no doubt that one ruled!
