Have they even made Hunter Cherry in the last 3/4 years? I thought that was by far the best beer they made.

Orange, cherry, chili, coconut, hazelnut haven't been bottled since 2015 (I think - again, to quote Jason Mantzoukas, "Don't quote me, nerds.")

The last Hunter variants that I am aware of were the cinnamon coconut and cinnamon vanilla. I was glad that I grabbed a loose can of each rather than the $15-17 4packs. They canned vanilla maybe two months back, but I didn't have it.

I had the most recent canning of Vanilla, and it really disappointed me. I used to say Hunter Vanilla was the best milk stout out there, but now....not so much. Crazy roasty, like almost all roast, and honestly I didn't pick up much vanilla at all. Major bummer man.

They bottled a coconut hunter in the fall I believe. I still have one bottle.

Good news, the sherry barrel talk is not going to be a Sherry Barrel-aged variant. Sounds like it’ll be Tabasco Barrel aged DL on Spanish sherry barrel spirals. My friend was there last night and heard from someone in the parking lot who overheard their server talking about it.

Oh no fear. Heat is on trend. There’s a cholula Barrel variant aged on Letherbee Absinthe spirals as well. It’s gonna be a badass year for variants.

While I get this is mostly a joke, and I don't hope to insert too much reality into a thread about expensive beer, I taught middle school in Gary for several years helping me to connect to the city's leaders, youth, and plight in a way that wasn't a two dimensional caricature shaped by news outlets and stereotypes.

Not claiming Gary is a part of the problem. Declining production of American steel, industrial pollution, white flight, de facto community and school segregation have left an isolated community with so few opportunities that we expect people to pull themselves up with bootstraps when they can't afford boots.

And just to elucidate, in anticipation of inevitable "yeah buts," these hardships don't justify crime and unemployment rates, they just to explain them.[/QUOTE]

I went to school in Gary,

Calumet high school actually. So yea I agree with you and yes it was was a joke.

You just squashed my dreams with Absinthe. Now I have to wait for the black Sambuca variant.

Just got done with a tour at 3Floyds and got some insight into DLD related info from observations and directly from employee:

    • Regular DL has already been bottled. Saw stacks and stacks of them already on big pallets. (employee and visual confirmation)
    • Variants have NOT yet been bottled. They are still resting in barrels and will continue to rest for another 4 weeks. No announcements about how many variants or quantities can be made until final tasting and bottling takes place, therefore no variant announcements to take place for at least 4 weeks. (per employee)
    • All DL variants are barrel aged for at least 1 year. The 2019 DL variants are already in barrels, per employee.
    • There are A LOT of Muscat and other wine barrels in which beer is sitting. The only non-wine barrels were Willet barrels. (this is based on visual).
    • Construction on brewery expansion will begin right after DLD. The building next door to current brewpub is set to be demolished the week after DLD wraps up.
    Non-DLD related:
    • They recently lost a big batch of BA sour beers due to a malfunction with a tank.
    • Nick Floyd has discussed a canning line location with the new expansion plans, although still not finalized.
    • Alpha King accounts for 25% of all 3Floyds beer sold.
