Had a rather unusual beer the other night from Levig and Oud Beersel. It was a double dry hopped ipa blended with lambic.

I’m all for experimentation but think this was a step too far!

I was rummaging around my beer fridge today and noticed I still hadn't done a taste off between standard Fuller's ESB and their Rebirth version done with Moor. So thought I'd better get to it before the beers got far too old. At least they have been stored at about 1c

in summary, the rebirth was better but they also bore similarities - typical bit of fullers marmalade, the minerally dryishness of the finish were exactly the same. rebirth had the fresher/more floral nose and taste and was slightly thinner.

I know they said they are going to bottle condition pride, it would be great if they did it with ESB too I think. It had a touch of the boiled sweet about it I always associate with pasteurised traditional beers

Cheers Emperor for this post. Beer Nouveau look good although limited info on their beers at their webpage. However have a very good blog post in relation to the recent controversy around duty on small brewers :

Went to Buxton on Sunday and went to the Buxton brewery itself. They’ve opened a taproom there now as well. At an hours walk total to get there and back to Buxton probably wouldn’t do it again, good job we had the dog. Had the new axe x though and that was fantastic. Also went to redwillows new Buxton bar which was also pretty good.

    A night of lager tasting
not a style, well set of styles I'm a big fan of
but as I am trying to become a beer connoisseur
& I hate banana, peanut butter, coconut and am not a big fan of orange
I'm going to have to but up with what I consider dull
rather than can't drink cos to me it tastes nasty

    revisiting Guinness Hop House 13
    1079 Project pilsner & Heverlee
then to make up for it Beavertown play the hits Double IPA
& Beer Nouveau Russian Imperial stout

Heavy Thus night at local Brewdog for The Bruery takeover and then Small Bar for Amundsen :

    Brewdog Hazy Jane
The Bruery/Bruery Terreux The Wanderer, The Order, Train to Beersel, Mash and Coconut, Sans Pagaie, Beret.
Amundsen Pecan and Maple Pie, Luponic Plague, Rebel King.

Great quality, standouts Train to Beersel, lovely high ABV lambic style, Sans Pagaie, very refreshing kriek. Also for the hops heads like me, Luponic Plague, tropicals all the way. Presently still in :sunglasses:mode.
