That beer sounds amazing. Only had the Uber Joe from them, courtesy of @Ri0, and it was excellent, made me a believer in 3 Sheeps. One of these days (when I'm not fucking swamped with crazy shit), I'll have to figure out something to trade him for more, not least for a birthday present for my buddy Joe who loves coffee beers to an almost frightening degree.

We are not alone and it's a bit of a consolation whether us millenials or older people, separated, divorced and possibly with children that are single and not necessarily unhappily so.

Well said. It can take a while, and I mean even many years to find someone. I'm not going to repeat the old and un-true adage ''it happens when you least expect it''. Being true to yourself and having hobbies and passions in life will make you encounter a woman someday. Why not even at a beer festival? You never know...

Too many people these days 'give it up', or breakup at the first problem in a new relationship. I'm not perfect either and have been guilty of this in my youth, more than once. I could probably live to 75 single and childless yet happy. Men tend to look for companionship, marrying (sorry not aimed at you or anyone) in the hope to get ''free'' rolls in the hay every evening is pretty delusional. Love, companionship and yes -- sex is important too, not gonna lie but when you finally have all this wrapped up together with a woman you can bet the romance will go far.

Cheers and hang in there, there is someone out there for you.

Great start to a terrific thread that I look forward to every week, as for me I've been with my wife for 37 years now, and I can't remember single life.

So , we're getting a ton of NEIPA offerings here and they come from everywhere. This one is from Central State and comes from Indy, it's called Oatsplosian and from my HF Balloon glass it's a very pale beer both in looks and taste, there's fruit here but it's dry, similar to Hophands. 6.5 Abv, flaked oats, citra, mosaic, definately not like the Mikkeller beers I've been sampling. There's plenty of fruit on the nose and the initial sip, l I'm sure from the citra, but this one is very different. The backside is a bit unique for the style compliments of the Moasic hops I'm sure, I'd say a bit funky, earthy as Moasic can be, lasts forever on the palate. Almost finishes like a Hefe if that makes sense. Surprisingly for the heavy use of oats I'd call it medium body. Over all a really nice sipper, can't say it's my favorite for the style, I'm hit or miss on Moasic, but it's well worth a try.

Hydra Urban Legend Coffee Stout, 6.66% ABV. Pours black, with no head. Nose is coffee, taste follows, plus roast malt, with a slight bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel, an overall outstanding coffee stout. This is a local beer, and is the best of their lineup that I've had.

Ok, as I started this next beer, the temperatures had seemed to drop since the perfect upper 60s they were when I headed to the gym this morning. Not as much as the Red Sox-Orioles game I am watching. Not sure how much fun the Boston Marathon will be tomorrow.

I was a bit surprised to see I eneded to add my next beer to the BA database. When I saw it, I thought of our own @utopiajane and I was looking for some spring to summer lighter new beers for today (purchased when the temps were in the 80s finally). This offering is a "German Style Ale" from which you should be able to easily discern the style in question, Itaca's Mo' Kolsch.

One their website, Ithaca indicates this offering has eschewed more traditional German hops for bittering, aroma, and flavor an in lieu of them used Mosaic and Glacier.

I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy Mosaic in my Kolsch, and it turns out I sort of didn't. Far from undrinkable, the more sweet citrus to tropical notes from the chosen hops seem to battle with their own grassy to leafy green bitterness. The latter comes out early, the fruit aspects seem to gain strength as my palate numbs to the peppery greens and moderately prickly carbonation. A little less "green" and toss out the fruit notes, and you're closer to what I am looking for in a Kolsch.

Admittedly, what I am looking for isn't likely what they were shooting for, what they produced didn't have me thinking this is the way to tweak the style.

New beer #3. First rating and review for this new Tired Hands Quad IPA!

    Control Voltage - Tired Hands
    Mixed Oak Fermented 4xIPA - 12% abv
    Canned 4/11/18 (4 days ago)
Score: 4.04 (first rating and review)

L - 2-finger dirty white head atop a golden yellow body.

S - cheese, herb, some citrus, booze.

T - very herbal hops. Earthy AF. Some citrus, but completely overpowered by the dank. Mildly bitter, mildly sweet, moderately boozy.

F - full body, low carb.

O - a very strange IPA. Doesn’t taste at all like it did on draft. If you like dank IPAs, you’ll love this monster.

Thanks. But as to the alone time, that's one thing that adding kids into a relationship definitely trims back on. I admit, I get less than I would like.

The Frucht series is insane. I'm not a big sour leaning guy, but these grab me by the collar and don't let go. The peach is one of my favorite, and the raspberry is right there with it.

We moved to Mankato, Minnesota in early September 1999, moving 10 hours+ away from Indiana/Ohio and our collective families. Mrs O and I are both the oldest child in our respective families (5 kids in my family, 4 kids in her family), so our move away was ..... disruptive, to use a term that's popular in business today. And we moved to a state where we knew no one.

    Not a single person.

In other words, it was a fairly emotional move, especially for Mrs O.

On September 30th, 1999, we received 5" of snow in Mankato.

And lost our power for 4 hours (note: Mrs O is RENOWNED for her ..... "disapproval" of being without essential services like electricity).

We lived in Minnesota for 18 years and experienced a lot of snow storms (like the one in December 2010 when the Metrodome roof collapsed), but that first one is still vivid in my memory. Mrs O let the expletives fly that evening.

Well said! I believe you must be comfortable in your own skin and self aware to be in a "good" relationship.

[IMG] Another great beer from @kettlehead1. A NEDIPA Nunchuck Ping Pong 8.2% ABV. Pours like a glass of pineapple orange juice, with a billowy sticky white head that leaves thick lines of lace as it slowly settles into a thin layer of bubbles. 4.75

Smell is marijuana, papaya, tangerine, pineapple, pine resin, and grapefruit rind. 4.5

Taste follows crazy dank maryjane, papaya, tangerine, pineapple, pine, and a nice shot of grapefruit. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, a soft mouthfeel with the perfect amount of carbonation, not dry but pretty darn sticky from all the oily hops, and at 8.2% ABV extremely drinkable. 4.75

Overall I really like this dank NEDIPA, it is really a tremendous beer. I love beers like this, I can only hope @2beerdogs and @GreenBayBA enjoy it as much as me. I trust these guys that much that I would send a beer in a box that I have never had. Awesome stuff. 4.75

That's funny! Sept. 30! Dang. Bet there have been some memorable cold snaps and dumpages.

Speaking of yelling...Back in my ski bum days, after first marriage, and moving out of the woods, a friend of mine lived in the mountains and was ski patrol at Hunter Mountain, and he planted a big crop of... green enjoyables... in a remote spot he found just in between Colonels Chair and Hunter Mtn. itself, remote, but no so you couldn't haul in and out. This was the year 30" inches dumped on the mountains on Oct. 4, and George hadn't gotten his crop out. Man, there was some yelling involved when he described how hard he tried to snowshoe in to get it, which he couldn't do!

Join me in a glass raised to Spring to come the fuck on already! Cheers!

I don't offer relationship advice, -happily married, but it took a couple of tries...
I can relate to tasty beers with math names! and offer an opinion of the beer on the table before me:
Sand City's Infinity MinusONE +2 an Imperial IPA.
The hazy, deep amber tap pour with a thin cap of fine foam. Lace rings mark each draw. The aroma is of tropical fruit. The flavor is that of a rich, bitter orange soda. The flavor and mouthfeel are full. The hop bitterness is moderate and pleasantly persists. [IMG]

New beer #2 today and interestingly the second that gets a 4 look followed by straight 4.25s. This is quite a tasty stout that really features the hazelnut. Coffee, cocoa and cream all come through as well. A bit sweet for me but dessert is practically in the name, delicious regardless.
    Cheers!

Happy Sunday NBS players. After two really nice days with temps in the high 60’s everything has gone to shit here on the island. Grey, overcast, and dreary. Temps back to the 40’s and windy as all hell with a monsoon of rain on the way.

Funny how the doc brings up relationships since I have pretty much been living at a hotel for a few weeks. Looking at it as a break without splitting up or moving out. This is both of our first engagement. There are ups and downs. My consumption has been an issue but we do have other problems that we are working on. I’m at least back half way and in another week, or so, I will either be home or posting beer pics from a new home.

Anyway my first new beer today comes via the awesome ba known as @colts9016 . Via the nbs bif #007. Awesome box Jammer and I was finally able to do a proper unveil. I will post the pics tonight.

The first selection is Black Tuesday, a ba imperial stout, from The Bruery. We get pretty good distro here on the island and Morning Wood is one of my favorite ba beers but I have yet to see this on the shelves. The brew checks in at 19.5% abv and has a 9/26/17.

An oily black pour with a fast and rather non-existent head. The nose is full of booze. A super smooth start to the drinking with tons of sticky chocolate malt upfront. A lush and smooth flow with an equally smooth finish. The first thing that really hits me is how well hidden the abv is. This stuff goes down fast and it hits you. Nice flavor notes of coffee, vanilla, sweet cream, and caramel. The mouth feel is nice and sticky but still smooth. It has a sort of sweet decetance/sweet cake quality to it. The booze is there mostly on the finish but it took me a bit of drinking to really notice it.

Overall, just awesome stuff but dangerously high abv. I’m capping the rest for later. I’m in the high 4’s here to a borderline 5. I don’t like their price points but I thinks it’s pretty tough to find a brewery that does ba beers any better,
