Whenever I get a FFF barrel aged beer I always drink it sooner rather than later. On more than one occasion their barrel aged offerings have soured (I have personally gotten refunded for multiple BA Molokos and BA Moloko variants since 2014). Seems like since they have really picked up their sour program, this has been an issue, but that may just be confirmation bias. Anyways the last 2 years I have drank my BA Dark Lord within 2 weeks of the fest to hopefully avoid any potential degradation, and I will do the same this year.

I thought variants were supposed to sit on a shelf to make your dick look bigger.

But the bottles need to be far in the background, right? This is what artists call the foreshortening problem. Unless you have “skin” in the game, then it is more cause for a bris. Wait, what are we talking about?

I heard they were also going to start the fest with all variants on tap, so we should be able to try everything right away, too!

Yeah, I got the rub last year. Started to reach for my tote, grabbed it, then realized it had the vintage wax colors. Would have felt like a tool had I switched last second, so I just bit the bullet.

Though it is a pipedream, if Adam Jarvis pulled double-duty and Pig Destroyer and Misery Index played, I'd be the happiest person there.

    Here is my guess

    Power Trip
Municipal Waste / Brain Tentacles (or one of the other 5,000 Dave Witte bands)
    Pig Destroyer
    eyehategod
    Cannibal Corpse

I got vintages too.. then I walked around the fest yelling I'd trade them for variants. A guy took me up on it so I gave him 14, 16, and two 17's for De Muerte.

He actually felt guilty and handed me back one of the 17 bottles. But if you consider 2 vintages = 1 variant then I basically broke even there and gave up one 17.

I had Muerte on tap that day and I didnt enjoy so much spice so I traded that away for Vanilla Moloko and Imperial Raz Bu. Great decision

My pipe dream would be a random impromptu Agoraphobic Nosebleed set. Just to be one of the few who actually gets to see it live.

I think that the only band that is associated with FFF that I would really be excited about being at DLD would be Mastodon (snowball's chance in hell). I am not a fan of the screaming thing. I can really get into the music, but I find the vocals terribly off-putting.

With that being said...if Cannibal Corpse is on the bill, and weather behaves I will be dressed like Ace for sure!

I can still remember the look of disgust on the cashier's face at Borders when I bought Frozen Corpse Stuffed with Dope in high school.
Mastodon played Chicago last year the same day as Dark Lord Day, so for like a full week I convinced myself that somehow they'd pull double duty. Their last show in Chicago coincided with a Crack the Skye re-release, that was pretty rad. It looks like they'll be in NC this year.

I also gave up on At the Gates seeing that they'll be in Singapore the week before DLD and Japan the week after.

Right there with you.. some of these bands can really jam and the music is solid. But the vocals are so disruptive and nearly impossible to decipher. I dont even mind the music in the pub and some of it is nice. People think rap is gibberish but I seriously don't pick up a single word sometimes in these metal songs

As awesome as it’d be, probably a slim chance that Power Trip plays. They’d have to play super early then headline their own show in Chi later that night.

I’m holding out hope that Iron Reagan plays DLD. That’d put my guess as
    Cannibal Corpse
    Iron Reagan
    Pig Destroyer
    Brain Tentacles

EHG did that a few years ago (and Mike IX was literally dying), albeit the 2nd show was in Valpo. I thought Power Trip made sense because they're playing Chicago Wednesday before, then Saturday night at 8:30, so maybe booking another show around it.

Is that a thing? My excitement over the music at DLD just raised significantly.

I was hoping for Iron Reagan too, but saw that Cannabis Corpse has a show in a Florida on the 19th. Which would rule out the guitarist that plays in both bands(?)... also hoping for Power Trip to do an afternoon set ahead of their Chicago show that night....

It was not there last year so apparently they were waiting for you to come back.
