Listen to more harsh vocals, it puts hair on your chest.

Besides Cannibal Corpse, I've never heard of any of the bands being mentioned in here :/ but, if I had my choice, my "realistic" DLD dream line-up would for sure include Gojira and Ghost. You can throw Dillinger in there too

I wonder what percentage Dark Lord accounts for. ~40,000 22oz bombers seems like a pretty large amount, especially in one day.

It's a very small percentage of their production. even 40,000 22 oz bottles only equates to about 220 barrels. Nick Floyd stated in an article that they were at about 60,000 barrels a year in 2016. So it's less than 1% at the level, and you know they brewed and distributed more beer in 2017.

I don’t understand why everyone isn’t clamoring for GWAR!

They would be the ultimate DLD band.

Gojira would kick ass. Dillinger is no more (sadly), but got to see them at Chicago Open Air last summer and they were awesome. Also saw Pig Destroyer there and while I found their music only occasionally coherent their energy was fantastic (almost Dillinger level) and that's why I'm looking forward to seeing them at DLD. I mean, if I happen to remember that there's music playing that day.

Since they've got new stuff, maybe? I haven't heard if the GWAR B-Q is going down this year...

Ah, not a big Dillinger fan, so I didn't realize they broke up, but I did get to see them open for, I believe Mastodon, at the Riv like 5 years ago and they were insane in the best way haha.. Mastodon would be awesome, as always, but I've seen them a half dozen times.

Gwar would be awesome, especially if it was raining..

I'll need to look into some of the other bands being mentioned in here.

Serious question: what genres are typically represented at DLD? Is it strictly “death metal,” “thrash,” and “heavy metal?” Are there ever “alt-metal” groups?

I guess I’m asking for a metal primer, with annotations of how it relates to DLD. I don’t have much metal experience (I’ve seen mastodon, for example) and have more experience with shoegaze and doom metal - you know, alternative / indie stuff that’s metal-adjacent.
