Did they just not "wow" you? I've never had anything from them that was anything short of "solid".

    Bah!

A proper pint always had a nice head on it and the glass that it's served in should always have enough room for both the beer AND the head.

Or he could just do a protein rest and get excellent head retention from that undermodified floor malted Maris Otter, too.

Well...I didn't like about half of the ones I had, they didn't wow me. From what I've seen here and what some of my friends enjoy, Sixpoint is held it very high regard. I'm like, sure, they make beer.

I was in London and Edinburgh this past June/July. Not only were the bartenders very helpful in regards to information they gave us about the beers on tap, but when we asked if we were supposed to tip they said we could if we felt like it. Apparently in these cities, the employer pays them well enough where they don't look for tips.

PA beer prices. Just picked up a 6er of Victory at Sea and paid $15+. It's getting old fast.

Damn, at least it's a good beer... but the taxes there must be crazy. My condolences on those prices...

The brewer I am referring to is about as knowledgeable as you can get.
Three factors to consider, one is that a large head is not regarded here as a sign of quality beer.It is seen as a nuisance as it gets in the way and wastes drinking time waiting for it to subside and in any way does nothing positive to the aroma.
Another is that a beer glass is Pint to brim.A large head sells you froth instead of liquid beer.Of course you can ask for a top up.
Third is that the pinnacle of beer drinking is cask ale which by its very nature has relatively low carbonation. Gassy beer is a different animal.

There is a minimum wage of around $10 or so per hour plus an Unsocial Hours increment.

Don't complain too much guys here's what it costs me for one bottle  - http://www.drinkstore.ie/ballast-point-victory-at-sea-672438000787-10118/1/

I know it's a lot further to travel but it's about the same price as similar beer made locally!

I hate that some of those one hitter series from Lagunitas are only around briefly, they should be brewed all the time!. And they are great for curing hangups

Funny, I hate it when they name something "One Hitter" and it's an annual or rotating release. Kind of like the movies/games named Final Conflict 2, Final Fantasy 3... not too final!

That's all well and good, but that doesn't change the fact that if you're using undermodified malt, which floor malted barley is, you're not going to get good head retention without a protein rest

Nobody said anything about a large head, just that beer should be served with a head. CAMRA agrees with me about this, in case you wondered.

Again, nobody's talking about a large head. Just one that is appropriate.

Pinnacle or not, cask ale still should be served with a head. Not a large head, but a head, none-the-less. How long that head stays there is, as you said, another story.

I will second that so far I've been disappointed with Sixpoint and I really don't care for Lagunitas.

I haven't really had all that many of Sixpoints beers. Resin wasn't bad but I find it pointlessly high ABV and expensive. I'll drink Pine Belt Pale Ale any day over Resin. Similar flavor profiles but I can drink more of Pine Belt and they are 2/3rds the price.
The alcohol flavor was way too strong in Hi Res.
Crisp is an example of breweries trying to make IPAs out of their pilsners, even using noble hops. The intense hopping came off as astringent.

    Back on the original topic...

When looking at the names of so many craft brews, one would think that breweries were run by juvenile, single perverts whose maturity level never advanced beyond their acne-faced fifth grade years.

"Morning Wood"? ..."Happy Ending"? ...."Polygamy"? ..."Mt. U"?

    How old are we?
