To the people saying "All a brewery has to do is package a juicy Double IPA in 16oz cans with a sticker label and they'll be printing money," here's your case study.

It also has to be a brewery with some level of hype behind them.

The McMenamin's mango double IPA has the same name as their Captain Neon Burger (which includes bacon and blue cheese). And yet the beer only includes mango as an adjunct.

Grape Lotion would've added REAL BURGERS, buns and toppings and all, because wildly experimental adjuncts. (See also: mochi and biscuits.)

Sounds like McMenamin's really needs to upgrade their adjunct game, if they want to get their hands on all that sweet sweet tallboy 4-pack money.

Started seeing a new drop of Three Magnets 'Little Juice Smoothie' hitting Seattle. Priced at $12.99-$13.99 4-pack 16oz cans. Super fresh brew for month of April. Also, why does this price seem a little lower? Then again, maybe it looks really good compared to some other breweries lately.

Love-hate relationship with 3-Mags. Between their distribution changes and new brewers in the past, this current release is tasting fantastic! Also noticed they are stamping a canning day number on bottom of can (ex: day 100). Don't remember this technique in the past, but could be wrong.

Back on Great Notion: Excited to see the can art once the 4-packs start rolling out.

The time has come. First can release at the new location is today at noon. Blueberry Muffin if you're interested. $20/4 pack.

That can artwork is pretty cool. Looking forward to many releases to come, but couldn't get out there today.

Actually wasn’t bad. Line went fairly quick and it didn’t sell out. $20 per kept people from buying a full allotment

For their first release I have seen bigger shit shows.

This was the first "can" release for this beer. It's been on fairly regularly at the NE Alberta St. location, and crowlers have been available in the past.

I understand that it's a popular beer, but it's not limited or a "one off," and now that the west side production brewery is up and running, I'm expecting that we'll see regular can releases of popular GN beers.

I don't know. Given those circumstsnces, it just seemed kind of weird to me that there would be any sort of line for this release. Is there really that much pent up trade demand for this "$5 a pop" can of blueberry sour?

People were offering up BA Fremont beers for two cans on the Seattle FB group. So I’d say yes. Sadly.

But it isn't just a "blueberry sour." It's the first Great Notion beer in cans. And more than anything else, trading is about bragging rights.
