legit question: saturday is likely my first time getting in line for a saturday release (usually a mule customer, shout out to the mule hustlers on here). Id like to bring some cool things ive gotten over the last few weeks, get down with the line share action, and meet some people. Are open container tickets a concern or is it mellow? is there a specific spot people gather at for sharing?

I've heard of it happening very very rarely to like a person or two, but I've never waited in a long line nor done any drinking in public/bottle shares.
You're probably fine, but one day (maybe this week, maybe 2 years from now) there will be some story up about a couple dozen people being cited for public drinking/intoxication and maybe littering for good measure. There's still mostly industrial and buildings under construction so I guess as long as those in the apartments next door don't call the police it'll be fine.
That said, I won't bother judging, but will say you should be kind enough to the residents to not use their stoops to hang out or their trash containers as a public recepticle. Have the decency to bring a bag for your recycling and keep the streets clean. Plus I guess talk at a normal volume (working people DO LIKE to sometimes sleep in) and don't punt cans or whatever that's all about.

Tldr-you're almost certainly fine, but treat the neighborhood and people living there as you would want people to treat your sidewalk/street/front lawn since ideally you aren't one of those man children that can't fathom having consideration for others. Bring a trash bag, don't litter.

Thanks! It bums me out to hear that noise and consideration for the neighborhood is a problem, that’s what gets breweries shut down (cough sand city cough). Definitely planning on taking away what I bring and not being a dickbag!

I bring a garbage bag with me just to keep things clean around our area, and a coffee mug to drink out of. The line starting from the new door does alleviate a bit of the noise issues by the apartments on Centre, but this release will definitely have the going line down Garnett where there are a lot of apartments so be mindful if you are there.

I will say this though; I have missed the last 2 releases but before that the cops were around multiple times each of the previous 4 weeks it felt like; way more than they used to be. And they did give out a few tickets, mostly to people drinking out of actual glass or walking around with an open bottle or can. It is illegal obviously but as long as you keep yourself somewhat discrete you should be ok.

No specific spot as far as I've seen. For the most part people share with those nearby them in line, though it does usually seem like there is a more coordinated share right at the front.

I've seen people get tickets for open containers but as long as you're smart about it(drink out of an opague cup, throw away/hide your empties) then you'll be fine. The cops don't walk around, but some will loop around in their cars a few times.

While we're on the topic of lines and Other Half, what are the prognostications for how long things will last this weekend?

Pure speculation but I think this may be one of the few times recently that most are sold out early, especially since EQ pushed their own release back to 1 PM. The only one I can see lasting is the rigs collab, although I guess it is possible the Bad Hair Day lasts since its 3 4packs pp, but that could be due to a low yield so who knows.

I've heard ruminations suggesting Einstein's Daydream is a double batch. In conjunction with the three 4-pack limit on Bad Hair Day, it would follow that OH is shooting for 2x allotment counts on the EQ collaborations.

@Kanger I miss your FOMO-reducing reassurances, but please keep us updated on that tasty liquid you're cookin' up! I wanna get in on the ground floor of your DDH oat cream sake releases before the ISO's start piling in from the 'tose hoes!

Also, quick follow-up intended for the new representatives of OH who are now responsible for following this thread: I expect a 10% commission on all sales of your soon-to-be-released oat cream DIPA "ISOs and 'Tose Hoes". Thanks!

Andrew has emphasized each time I've spoken with him that any "in demand" beer being released with case limits is at least a double batch. Anything that isn't a bigger batch will have limits reduced.

For new "just OH" beers, and for repeats, they don't seem to think it's quite as important and I mostly agree.

When does OH typically announce their midweek / Tuesday can releases? Flying in on Thursday & hoping for some leftovers to bring back to SoCal ... which won't happen if there's no Tuesday release, ARGH. Thank you!

Usually day of release as they don’t generally give much heads up on midweek releases. This past week Galaxy + El Dorado was released on a Monday. My gut tells me no mid-week release next week since this weekend will be a big/hyped release. But who knows??

Midweeks are usually announced at most a day or two in advance, sometimes day of so its hard to judge. I mean if you'll be around until Saturday you should be able to grab cans from that release unless its something insane.
