No Rules will not be distributed this year

It's because most of us have "enjoyed" most, if not all of the previous vintages and made a conscious decision not to buy into the hype enough to enlist supermule or stand outside in line in horrible weather.

That said, I split a 2017 last year (fresh) with three other people and liked it. When (I'm sorry, "if") I see that gray bowling ball in distribution this year, I'll probably buy a bottle. Or if it ends up for sale again at the taproom without a line of people I'll stop by, actually pretty close to me.

My guess is @PhilBallins knew it was last year’s, but it seems to add fuel to the fire that if we’re still seeing 2017 pop up, we will most likely see 2018 at some point.

 

Someone actually posted it earlier. But when I tried to respond and tell them that it was last year's bottle, I was told I didn't have permission. Then the post disappeared. No idea what happened.

I'm curious to know whether the Store recognizes it is last year's, and whether they are trying to suggest it is this year's without explicitly stating that. Seems like sound marketing.

 

I guarantee the store knows. It’s not just any store - it’s The Beer Temple, which is (IMO) the best and most respected beer shop in Chicago.

So, the question is: Did they choose this time to put that up for an obvious reason then? Innocent, or devious!?

 

My guess is it is random on their part...but maybe devious by the distributor?

 

I don't know if someone already said it, as this thread got loooongggg. But yeah, he had foot surgery like a week or two before all of this...

 

To add into all the trading talk, paying people off people in line, the angry chair stuff, secondary sales etc.

Also consider the super mule brought all this beer back to the good people of Detroit. Some of these people got cases or more from him. They're obviously not drinking them all. They are now going to be sold for X amount more or traded at a premium because of the fact that you just can't go buy it off a shelf this year.

You give me far too much credit. I didn't realize the bowling bowl color changes per year. Now it's even more curious. Was there a second drop because not enough people bought vintage bottles at the release?

 

So are you saying there should be reconsideration for the community service award we were about to bestow upon him? I was just about to have his name engraved on it....

Hey, I was trying to help you out. I honestly don’t think it’s a second drop or anything - I think last year’s bottles are just constantly at the distributor. I have no basis for that assumption.

 

I know Capones put out orange ball No Rules in January of this year. At the time I just figured it was fresh because who the hell releases stuff 7 months later? Well, looks like Beer Temple has out done them!

 

This while muling situation makes this comment all the better!
