I have been a LONG time Weihenstephaner fan. Started with the Hefeweissbier, and have recently switched to the Original Premium. I like both of them for their taste. I have tried a lot of of the Hefe's, but always come back.
But at $65 a case for the .5l i am looking for something to try in between purchases. Would love some recommendations that closely imitate the Original Premium in flavor. I have a case of Hofbräu Original $50 on order to check out, but am curious of any other suggestions you may have??
    Thanks!

    For value...

    Spaten Lager, $18 a 12-pack in Ohio

DAB. I'm straying here from style, but still a very good beer and $7 per 6 pack .5l cans in Ohio.

I personally have been unable to find Sixpoint Alpenflo which is also of the Munich Helles style but based upon my past experiences with Sixpoint beers I would suggest this beer to you.

Hopefully you will be able to find it.

Any of the 12 oz cases should be a better buy. My preference for the Munich beers would be:
    Augustiner Edelstoff
    Hofbrau
    Spaten
    Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold
    Paulaner

And I'd put either Weihenstephaner or Andechs in the middle somewhere.

In terms of value Hofbrau comes out on top for me. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much.

Great suggestion, Jack. I'm surprised you haven't found any. You would think the beer distributors would be all about the 12 pack format (yes, I know they changed that law but what I mean is you'd think they would be eager to order it). Best of luck in your search!

There is some sort of a screw up with this beer and PA (a PLCB registration snafu?).

I thought about driving down to Delaware (Total Wine & More) to buy this 12-pack. I am pretty sure that it is priced more reasonably in Delaware as well. I have not had the chance to make this trip (yet).

    Cheers!

Not sure what part of PA you are at but there was plenty @ Total Wine in Cherry Hill last time I checked. Also Traino's in Marlton. Just FYI. cheers!

    Thanks for the tips.

I am about a 40 minute drive from Total Wine & More - Claymont, DE. I typically go there 3-4 times a year to buy wine. Maybe on my next trip there will be some Sixpoint Alpenflo there?

    Cheers!

Also, check for Stoudt's Gold if they get distributed to your area.

Yeah, I think they would if they're in Sixpoint's distribution area (I'm sure they are). Wouldn't hurt to call ahead though. They were stacked in the "warm" area with all the other craft 12 packs. Tag me when you try it, curious as to your thoughts!

Yeah, Total Wine & More - Claymont, DE has it. I confirmed via the Sixpoint product locator that Randy (@Ranbot) posted:

    https://sixpoint.secure.force.com/

The 'trick' is finding the time to get down there. I have a Retail Beer Distributor that is less than a mile from me but needless to say Alpenflo is not there.

It might be I will get a chance to buy this beer on its second drop.

    Cheers!

P.S. This is most definitely a first world problem. There is plenty of quality locally brewed Helles beers to purchase: Stoudts Gold, Sly Fox Golden Helles, Victory Helles, Root Down Low Bridge Lager (I had a draft pint of this last week),....

Firestone Walker recently made a beer in this style that they're just calling Firestone Lager. It's very reasonably priced here and tastes pretty great. Hopefully price and availability are the same for you.

I see there is a Augustiner Bräu Edelstoff, And a
Augustiner Bräu Lagerbier Hell. What is the difference?

The Edelstoff is the version for export and is .5% stronger. I don't think that the Hell is even available in the US, but would be more authentic if you do find it.

Hard to beat Weihenstephaner - like asking "what else should I drive besides a Porsche..." but Hofbrau comes a close 2nd for me.

Well, My guy ordered me a case of the Sixpoint Alpenflo. Should be here Thursday. The Augustiner Edelstoff wasn't in the distributor book, so he will have to call on Monday. Thanks for the suggestions, I will report back.
