I think it’s the Dark Lord that keeps getting rid of them. He (or she?) will certainly see through this little “trick” you’ve tried.

Sorry, the DLD thread has made me spill into other threads.

FYI, Fulton taproom is selling 2016 regular bcbs bottles to go today. Just posted on Facebook, no pricing information though although I suspect it’s reasonable.

    $20.

I didn’t check about Islay because I didn’t see the post before I stopped by, and also because I would have assumed it was a joke.

Drinking first bottle of Islay tonigt; although it isn’t nowhere near as good as any Bourbon County, it blows away 90% of BBA Michigan stouts

This is really true for every beer but I feel like scotch barrel aged beers can have the most split amongst palates of any beer. Some people love scotch, some people don’t. Some people enjoy scotch - just not as a flavor with their beer.

I legit think its a good beer but I joke about it a lot. It's like drinking a really strong heavy peated scotch, anything you taste after it is muted in comparison and you can't drink glass after glass of it. A lot of people on this forum like to do shares and down BBA stout after stout, and you really can't have this one in the middle or beginning, it has to be an end beer.

You also have to like scotch, that's key.

I'm willing to bet that the Cooper Project Islay release was originally intended to be the 2016 Bourbon Country Scotch variant that was pulled from the lineup.

Considering the base beer is the same as Bourbon County, and it has been aged for 17 months, the timeline would suggest that it could be highly likely.

So the next question is why? Did it not meet the BCBS standards? Did it just need more time and they didn't want to sit on it until Nov. 2018?

I think someone brought this up a page or so back. Someone asked on Twitter and I believe Goose confirmed

That's fine, but do we know why it didn't make it into the BCBS release?

Based on the feedback I'm seeing around, it seems like that's probably the most likely culprit. I would imagine they want the BCS line to be as "general audience"-friendly as possible, and it doesn't sound like this is that (have not tried it myself).

Islay was the 2016 BCBS Scotch. I'm not sure what Cooper Project was, but it's either something else, or they've re-named this beer 3 times now.

Well crap, I don't know how I totally missed that. Apologies for the redundant post.
