    Guys. Guyyyyys!

    Variant list is updated!

Jk. But now that I have your attention, here is a rare “real idea” from me:

Anyone interested in creating a WhatsApp group to help scout out and post about tappings?

That way, we won’t be frustrated about missing stuff. We’ll be frustrated that we’re missing stuff and our internet isn’t working.

A WhatsApp version of this thread.

    What could go wrong?

The issue with the really rare tappings is that you have to already be in line when they go on tap in order to get them. Unless you cut in line.

This is very true, I have lucked into a couple of nice pours but also have missed out on a ton.

I know this has been discussed a few times before, but I wanted to see if anyone's had success leaving the festival around 3-4pm and were able to score a Lyft/Uber for a reasonable price. Is that completely out of the picture?

For those of you that have had multiple variants over the years, which barrels work best with Dark Lord?

Obviously bourbon. How was the cognac? Maybe rum will make an appearance this year.

I think it depends on things like how many people are leaving at the same time, how far, and what's considered reasonable. I've heard of triple digit prices but that's only hearsay.

    God Tier
    Bourbon (esp Pappy)

    High Tier
    Brandy, Port, Cognac

    Low Tier
    Most Wine

    Worst Tier
    Scotch

    2012 cognac was awesome.

Haven’t tried Port, and I’d rename wine level “Ok” instead of Low... pretty much spot on though.

Bourbon and Congac (Armangac) tend to be the best.

    Just under that Brandy variants

    Then Aquavit

    Then Port

    Then Muscat/Moscatel/Sauternes

If you're going back to the city, I would expect triple digit prices in the afternoon. I took one from the city in the morning last year and it was somewhere in the $90 range. I would expect it to be more expensive in the afternoon. If you split it amongst 2-3 guys, it's not bad.

It is worse than '16 but that doesn't change the fact that it's just not a good beer. It was an experiment they tried with those barrels and failed miserably.

I cracked open a 2015 Dark Lord this weekend. I'm quite surprised at how well it aged. It was very drinkable.
