I would have a small sample of each then dump if undesirable. You might be surprised and actually enjoy one or more of these beers. But it's OK to cut your losses.

That's why I get so annoyed when I buy a sampler 12-pack, and nowhere on the outside of the box does explicitly say that one of the varieties within is a fruity beer. Sometimes I suspect by the name, but many times I did not know until I got home, opened the box, and read the labels. I have emailed companies to complain about this practice !

It's unwanted if I bought it to try out, tasted it, and didn't like it. In that case, it's drain poured.

while I like the idea of unwanted beers for chili and simmering sausages, I usually get something specific for both.

Knock one back quickly when already loaded to work them down. Follow it up with one more good beer, then go to bed.

If a truly bad beer I will dump it or age it and try again.

If it's a good beer I just don't like I bring them to parties.

A buddy has a fridge full of misfits people leave at his house. He does not like most of them so I get to try some really good stuff and bad stuff. His fridge is like a perpetual mix a six.

I aged a spiced winter beer for around three years hoping it would mellow but it was still horrible. I dumped it. Keeping the last one for at least another 3-5 and see what happens.

    Enjoy

I was going to suggest you send them to me until I looked in your fridge. If you do not have any planned visitors, then I would trust empty them and gain more room.

Here's what I do (in order of preference)

    1) Give it away to someone who will drink it
    2) Cook with it
    3) Dump it, rinse bottles, reuse for homebrewing

I recently bought a coconut cream ale. Before you judge my thought was "I like coconut, I like cream ale so why not?".
For me this was another example of just how wrong I can be at times. Tried to give them away and they were on the edge of the dreaded drain pour when someone said I'll take them. He shared them with some visiting female relatives and they loved (reportedly) them. Different strokes!

Dump on my plants during the Spring. If it helps or not, good question but I truly believe it does.

I love the fact that people won’t pour out unwanted beer because “it’s wasteful” , but will run a separate refrigerator to keep said unwanted beer cold.

Save them for occasions when you've already had a few and want just one more. You won't be wasting a "good" beer on a worn palate, but you can still slowly sip on a beer. That is what I do. If I'm at home watching the game, I'll have two or three "good" beers. Then I'll break into one I don't care for as much if someone gifts it to me.

Re-invent it. As the proprietor of a bottle shop I have a lot of beer that gets to its pull date and just needs to go away. To re-invent the beer, combine all of the unwanted into a carboy, pitch some brettanomyces - type bug along with some fresh wort or fruit. Give it a few months and re-bottle it. Trust me, brett fixes everything!

In Wisconsin we have a term called "brat beer." It's usually not a compliment. We cook the brats in beer that we don't want to drink, usually.

Unwanted beer is always a conundrum. When I buy for a party then I make sure that I'll drink what I'll buy if it's leftover.

The problem is when someone brings beer to the house and it's not something I'll drink. Not because it's bad (usually) but because I'll just not drink it. In those instances, I give it away, usually to a contractor or the lawn guys on a hot day.

We do have someone nearby that works for Heineken and insists on bringing green bottles of beer to events. Nobody drinks it so it kinda sits - until the host takes it to another house for an event - and it sits. Latest is two large format bottles that have made it to two (or three?) block happy hours. (And we expect to see a third bottle added to Friday's event.
