2 bottles each month for a year, so 24 bottles, not 2. Unless I'm misreading something.

That's the way I read it and 24 750s for $300 is actually a pretty good deal.

I'm interested to see what these anniversary bottles are going to cost the next few days.

Looks like it’s 24 bottles minimum guaranteed, probably a few more based on the language. Not a bad deal at all. I assume they’ll be a pretty wide range of different styles given how many they’ve already made.

10% off at the flower shop is pretty significant too if you need to help sell it to the missus.

I wonder if that means the 24 bottles are included for the $300 or they are member only bottles you pay for. Seems very cheap to have $12 750s along with all the other benefits.

If they’re not included it seems incredibly expensive, but you’re right if they are then it almost seems too cheap to be true. Especially considering their current bottle format isn’t even 750 ml.

Maybe half of them will just be pilsners or something?

On Instagram they say "members will receive a minimum of 2 club-exclusive 750ml bottles each month for 12 months..." which certainly makes it sound like at least 24 bottles are included with the membership.

I reached out and asked. You get at least 24 bottles as part of the $300.

That's a pretty stellar deal. Will be interesting to see what kinds of beer they will be cooking up at that price.

I would say the deal depends on the quality of beer.

Can I argue for a second that this is not a steal, but more of a fair deal? If a brewery, especially a new brewery, is asking customers to pre-purchase 2 bottles each of 12 unknown beers, they should be made available at a discount. Trading culture, FOMO, and the promise of "exclusivity" are the only reason some breweries are able to get away with charging full price+ for their reserve society bottles.

Of course, but they are putting out some quality stuff across a good number of different styles.

It’s all relative. You can only measure it compared to other breweries. It’s certainly a steal compared to something like the Barrel Culture club in terms of bang for your buck and newness/knowness of the brewery.

I disagree because you don't need to be a member of any society. If you did, lets say there was a law that you had to choose a reserve society, then yeah, compare them all and choose the one you feel offers the most value for the best price. But the fact that other breweries overcharge for their society memberships shouldn't have anything to do with this one.

I am not sure I agree.

Memberships are all about paying for the opportunity to have something special and support something you believe in.

You are paying up front for a brewery to go make you hopefully awesome beer, and you get some other decent perks out of it.

Some membership programs have been really good, and some are busts, if you don't like the idea of 'pre-paying' for special beers, then you don't join the club.

Brewery memberships aren't like costco, its something special and additional for the true fans, not so you can get cheaper products.

I think you're missing his point. He's saying that a brewery membership should be evaluated against itself, not just in a relative sense against other brewery memberships. Whether something is "good value compared to X" doesn't mean it has good intrinsic value on its own.

I think everyone has to evaluate the “intrinsic value” of a membership for themselves and in the context of their own factors. That’s entirely subjective. But it’s not subjective to say that most 750’s of craft beer from desirable breweries these days cost more than $13.
