I live 2 blocks from Lucalis sister shop, Giusseppina’s in South Slope. It’s amazing but I’ve actually never been to Lucalis. Anyone here been to both and can make a fair comparison?

I know a couple people that have been to both and swear it's the same pizza. I'm in your boat; never been to Lucali, live near and love Guisseppina's. My low tolerance for lining up for things means I may never know about Lucali personally, and I'm OK with that. FOMO is a young/rich man's game and I'm neither.

Now that I know about this can we delete the last few posts?

I'd say Lucali is the "best New York-style pizza", period (in NYC or elsewhere).

I'm partial to grandma slices tho so not sure I'd go as far as "best pizza in NYC" per se...

Had my last 4th Anniversary tonight. It's not what it once was but still tasty.

I think it's about 90% of Lucali. Ingredients seem slightly different, pizza is closer than calzone and sauce didn't carry over. If you are a parent with kids it is for sure a godsend and there is more room. We frequently meet friends who live in South Slope over there, though we are only a few blocks walking to Lucali. Lucali is hands down the best pizza in NYC. Been to L&B, DiFara, and most everywhere else in NYC, only exceptions are Paulie G and Pizza Loves Emily.

Giuseppina's isn't BYO. That said, the vibe is so relaxed, I'm sure you could talk them into bringing bottles/cans in.

I've been to both spots; Lucali gets the slight edge from me for ambiance, but as mentioned earlier, that line is brutal nowadays, (thanks, Ugly Delicious) even with the "put your name in and bounce" framework.

For me, the pies are pretty much equal.

90% sounds right. Excellent pizza but missing the magic of the Lucali oven. SO much easier to eat at though, given the bigger space and lighter crowd. Wine list and dessert aren’t great, but yeah as others have said, seems like the staff wouldn’t take much issue with you bringing your own alcohol if you were reasonable about it.

This oat wine sounds either delicious or really, really sweet. If anyone buys please share your thoughts!

570 nm is really good. It's similar to batch 1 Green Power with that smooth creamy melon note

Yeah, just got here. Like 3 or 4 people "on line". Everything available. Everything up on tap already too if you'd like to try before you buy.

Yes. It's killer. Pretty much tastes like OJ. The dual hop series continues to be my fave.

Still a lot if beer left. Probably a little more than a half pallet each except 570nm, which is closer to a full pallet. No line. This is awesome
