Hey I've actually been there. When we were visiting my daughter in Santa Cruz a few years ago, my wife & I stayed a couple of days in Monterey, before driving up to SC. We had dinner and drinks at the Alvorado St. brewpub. I can't remember what I drank but it wasn't a sour.

Bellwoods has released a pilsener called Bellweiser three times now. Apparently they expected a cease and desist letter from ABInbev, so the first release was draft only, making whatever changes that would have to come be fairly cheap and easy. No letter came. The second release was in bottles, but with a generic label that would make relabeling bottles easier when the letter came. No letter came. The third is also in bottles with the same generic label. They are still hesitant to pay for, print and use a label for the beer.

You never know when the trademark holder will decide to put up a fight.

I like the parody names as much as the next guy, but were it my brewery, I'd probably stay away from these issues.

In US, original Budweiser from Budovice must be re-branded as Budvar or Czechvar, to be sold here. But when my wife & I were in Ireland, we went to restaurants where we could get both the "American" Budweiser on tap (it's brewed by Guinness there), as well as the Budovice Budweiser in bottles that said "Budweiser" on the label. Aren't there lawyers in Ireland ?

Apparently there are lawyers all over Europe - some win, some lose
    IRISH TIMES Jul 30, 2010:
The most current US agreement between the two companies allows for "Czechvar" only.

Anyone hear any news of this case? Just picked up a can of breaking bud tonight for the first time since I heard of this. It was canned in early may, so after the case was brought. They are certainly not C&Ding, how does that work for all you lawyers out there?
