I don't think the two are mutually exclusive.

    Agreed.

Maybe I should have phrased it this way, "If I preferred the selection and taste of the macros available to me, I would probably would not drink as much craft beer, as craft beer tends to be more expensive and less readily available than macros."?

From one to another, I’ll take my chances.

Knowledge is learning from experience. You are obviously knowledgeable in this arena.
Wisdom is learning from the experience of others. Grasshopper will attempt to learn from your experience, oh sensei.

My first enjoyable exposure to IPA’s was Dogfish 90 minute and was taken aback by the floral nose. Since then my desire for IPA’s has waned, but I do enjoy Saranac’s Gen IV Session.

I'm not pretentious, it's just that I get my water free out of the faucet, and don't need to buy it bottled.

Your water is free? The local water assn. sends me a bill.

    IMHCO... Black IPAs are delicious.

We should call them Cascadian Dark Ales vs Black IPAs all the time, because it sounds more edgy, and will drive more hype.

You're quoting something I am not familiar with, but frogs aren't reptiles.* :nerd::grimacing:

*not beer related, but at least this isn't another post about tipping.

Good catch....was hopeful no one would pick up on that :cold_sweat:.
A faux pas that stands corrected; I should have either led with snakes or trailed with amphibians.

I'm with you - but even so in real life. Just as I wouldn't call a friend "mate", because it's a real stretch to seem worldly, I don't say cheers. Not that we should be bound by our national lexicon, but seems things sound desperate.

The idea of someone suggesting an imperial stout to accompany a porterhouse is absurd to me. Sure, the flavors may blend or provide the perfect counter, but if you are slogging a 400 calorie beer with your porterhouse, you've really taken the beer thing too far....IMHO

Also, the idea that "sour" beers are the apex of beer sophistication is truly absurd. A tolerance or penchant for sour is developed in childhood, and if the beer you are drinking is intensely sour, what you are drinking is utter nonsense.

Agreed. I see acidity as a good thing, but there is such a thing as too much. Something which many, especially New World, brewers of sour beer don't seem to understand.

Agreed with both of you fellas about the online bit.

It may be douche-y, but I tend to call everyone "brother". Well, male everyone. Not so much in the Hulk Hogan vernacular, but simply as a analogue for "man" or "dude". Inevitably, it degenerates into "bro" or "brov" as I've had more beers and I get more friendly. Just an attempt at establishing familiarity, I guess.

It would be better if you went more in the Hulk Hogan direction as opposed to "bro" after a few beers. Or maybe not.

Actually, as you visit here more often and take in the debates we have about beer classification styles, you'll see that the "frogs as reptiles" analogy is a fitting primer.

My controversial opinion of the day is there seems to be two kinds of negativity regarding NEIPA. Those who don't like the taste of them. those who don't like the name of them.

To those who don't like the taste of them I suggest not drinking them. This has always worked for me when confronted with a beverage I don't like, and I bet it works for you.

To those who don't like the name NEIPA my advice is to get a grip.

    Thank you.

I'm a huge glassware person, and IMO the Teku glass >>>>>>>>>>>> a snifter.

I know some people on here are not Teku fans, but it does make your beer taste that much better IMO. It's the perfect glass.
