I don't like Teku's because they're ugly. Just a harsh, angular version of a tulip.

I can understand that. I don't understand why but the Teku just enhances the beer for me. Maybe I need to do a double IPA back to back in a Teku and a tulip or something.

But those long thin stems is a big issue for me. So easy to knock them over. Even when you're just reaching to grab it, to take a sip. Especially after having a few. And they aren't cheap. They need to make some with a shorter, thicker stem.

I would love to have a stemless Teku, but I never really have a problem with knocking it over lol

Calorie counts don't really factor in much at all into my beer drinking habits. Actually that is a bit dishonest... I get a little freaked out when people suggest pairing imperial stouts with german chocolate cake or ice cream. It just seems obnoxious. Those were suggest pairings from Ballast Point for Victory at Sea

Pretentious? Its like the wonder bread of the beer world. Who eats that stuff. Vs fresh ciabatta or sourdough. YRMV.

I will drink one here and there. The name doesn't bother me. What I'm annoyed by is seeing so many new ones in a store and no one seems to buy any past the first week they're released, while other styles of beer almost disappear in the same store. It creates a dustier shelf by average and pushes even more browns, porters and reds off the shelf. No problem with the style, but it seems brewers and stores are buying the hype even harder than the customer. Therefore we're piled high with half assed big brewer NEIPAs that nobody wants, while the "good stuff" is on 4 pack limits and doesn't come around much. Quantity is overwhelming and quality is hit or miss in my opinion.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will change, and your area will become like mine, and there will be more styles available, by far, done better, by far, than any time in history. I do like NEIPA, but I like all the other 98 styles I've tried so far too. Cheers!

I'm more talking about the people who refuse to even try it because it's cheap/flavorless/whatever. Pretty much every AAL I've had has been different from one another, if someone searches through them, they'll probably find one they like. To just dismiss an entire style due to its widespread nature and mass-marketability is what bothers me.

Yeah, I think it's just a matter of all the local and national brewers figuring out how much of their new stuff sells and the stores figuring out how many of that style to order at once. I haven't had any true new england brands of this style (treehouse, trillium). It seems like here we have Old Nation making good ones, then a bunch of other locals making half assed ones and of course the sam adams/new belgium/sierra nevada ones. Just a lot to sort through so we can get balance and freshness in our selection. It'll work itself out though, water always finds it's level.

Isn't that normal prices for Ballast Point beers? I've always paid ~$16 for VaS I thought that was MSRP for it.

I’m British. When my friends/colleagues say “mate” to me as banter/a term of endearment, I find it pretty funny. I don’t think I’ve ever heard an American use the term outside of that, but if they did then yeah it might be a little strange. Cheers is pretty universal at this point no?

Opinion: KBS will see reduced production over the next few years, and could take a year hiatus in 2020 in an attempt to resuscitate its cult status. Could also see some variants.

Opinion: Regular BCBS will see decreased production and some of the variants will increase.

They'll have to do something drastic to avoid total loss of cult status for these two lines.

Of course cheers also means 'thanks' in parts of Britain. I confused a lot of Americans and myself with that gesture on my first trip to the US.

IMO it is never going to regain its cult status with all the other good BA stouts available at a fraction of the price. It is a very good beer and an OG of the style but it simply isn't unique anymore. Taking it off the market for a year won't change that. I can imagine them trying to go with some variants though. I can also see them reducing production since it is definitely sitting on shelves longer this year than it ever has in the past.

I agree - I should have said fruitless attempt. Once cult status is gone - it's gone forever. Changing formulation might have limited success, but most will see through that. BCBS can be saved though, they haven't totally botched it quite yet. Can't get the sh*t back in the goose at this point, but increasing variants slightly could work for them.

They could make KBS year-round and cut the price, but short of that I don't know what their viable options are. But they'll try.
