I’m going to start this thread as I tour this brewery. But it seems pretty nice and fairly new looking. The tasting is next. Pictures will come later. Internet is slightly slow but pics will be coming.

I think their IPA is very good. It has a nice hop aroma and a nice finish.

Hopefully they treat their water... CR is largely geothermal. Imperial (the Coors Light of CR) has a distinct sulfur quality in the nose

I was in CR last year and i liked there red ale, it was on tap where i was staying. If you're still in San Jose try and get to Stiefel Pub they have a big variety of local craft and do flights.

Stiefel Pub rocks!! Great selection of beers. Some very good pub food too. Not an extensive menu, but some excellent choices. Their pork burger is phenomenal!

In La Fortuna, there's a good craft beer bar. Sorry, but I don't remember the name of it. It's on the western edge of town, on the north side of the road.

The place I'm thinking of is definitely La_Fortuna_Pub. My wife reminded me that it's across the road from the new artisanal chocolate shop.

La_Planta is in the capitol, San Jose.

It's about 2 hours from Punta Arenas cruise ship terminal to Mora, San Jose, Costa Rica. Our guide spoke excellent English and was a doll. We did stop for a pee break. Facilities were good. It truly was a nice adventure and the Costa Ricans were kind. The scenery is also good along the highways.

I have a funny story regarding Costa Rica which I'll share here although I'm not sure how well it fits. While I was studying at the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL one of my classmates was from a brewery in Costa Rica. The class was discussing the cleaning of returnable bottles and someone made a joke about the movie "Strange Brew" where the McKenzie brothers put a mouse into a bottle and try to return it to the brewery thinking they'll make money off of it. A little while later my Costa Rican friend leans over to me and asks i broken English "Jim... mouse in the bottle ... how you get it out... put a snake in?"
