I had it on tap and wasn't impressed. It was good but I have come to expect Bell's beer to be at the top of whatever category the beer is and this one wasn't there.

I have no idea on the price as I have received it twice as extras. That being said I truly enjoyed it fresh and my second bottle I am aging. So I say definitely worth a try

I haven't had either honestly so I can comment on weather its a good beer or not. Ill probably be getting some this season to try though.

That said, the 15s about right for that beer. Is it more then your average 6 pack? Maybe, but by what 4 dollars or so. Not a huge deal usually. I do understand the beer budget though and all that, I do the same thing.

don't know about where your at but here, its not a super rare release, just a seasonal one.

I like it a lot, fresh and aged. Give one a try and then you'll know how you feel about it.

Had the same dilemma as the OP the other day at Binny's....

Given the choice between HHNF, Expedition, and Double Cream.....and having had all 3 before.....I opted for the 2 stouts. Not cuz I could not have grabbed all 3.....just that the other 2 way over-trump the HHNF......and I also was bulking up with Zombie Dust, Brown Shugga, some sours, some FFF Robert The Bruce, etc.

Yea I wouldnt buy it again. Its down there with Amber Ale for me. Just a bit too sweet and not enough dark fruits (Im having my first one as I type).

On the iPhone it gives you the smiley if you just type the colon followed by the right parenthesis.

To the OP: Yep, mixed reviews! I like the beer, you either will or won't. What this does illustrate is the importance (where legal) of decent beer stores offering most beers as singles, e.g. The Cellar here in OK, or Belmont Party Supply in Dayton.

Didn't really dig it myself. Just seemed to miss on a few fronts. May buy another 1 or 2 next time I do a mix-6 at my bottle shop, but i fear those will be just as disappointing. The Double Creme Stout was great! I loved that beer. think "session stout".

@$16 + tax a 6er = no way. Way too thin and very lacking on the backend/finish for the price.

I know there's a huge love for Bell's here, but, they have got to be one of the most hit/miss brews around - IMO. This one is a big whiff.

Update- tried it and liked it more than most of you guys apparently. Drinking half cellaring the other half just to see how that goes, and now gonna try to kill all of the rest of my pumpkin beers (2 pumpking 1 night owl and a sixer of Schlafly pumpkin) today to make room for some celebration and hibernation amongst others. Insulin on standby.

This thread inspired me to grab a bottle of Rochefort 8 at the store.

This is another one of Bells overhyped beers. Im not a big fan and would rather buy many other beers for $10-$12 a sixer, but that being said, still happy to try new ones if I haven't had it before. Overall, not that great, plenty of other better Belgian brews

Thanks for the pointer, I'll try that on the iPad (I'm mostly a Droid user).

hhnf is marketed as an "american style dubbel" look at the six pack its written right on there. if your going for that traditional belgian style dubbel you wont find it here. still a worthy beer and not too expensive especially placed next to 4 packs and 750ml's running from $16-$20
