With my wife leaving her job to stay at home with our son full time the Beer budget will need to be re-evaluated. What are peoples recommendations when price is a factor. Obviously the big breweries will still be visited but some better priced options for in between would be good.

I know of Fort hill and will probably be drinking more of their beer, just wish they dated the cans.

I dunno, there seem to be plenty of $10ish 6pks and $17ish 12pks out there. What are you having a hard time finding?

Fort Hill and Jacks Abby are the first to jump to mind.

If you live near the NH border check the weekly Market Basket flyer for some decent sales. $11.99 12-packs of Ipswich this week.

Mix your drinking sessions up, start with reasonably priced craft beers and then switch to your favorite cheap beer. No reason to go more than a few deep with good stuff, your palate gets sensitized and you can't appreciate the nuances anyway.

Castle Island does a good job pricing their 4- and 6-packs of 16-oz cans. Freshness can be an issue at times. Some of the Midwest breweries that send beer to Mass. are competitively priced. Thinking of Revolution and Toppling Goliath (4-packs). Notch is also worth seeking out, particularly as a 12-pack fridge beer.

Gotta bump the JA and Market Basket recommendations, when times are tight I get a lot of mileage out of the JA 15 packs for $15. House Lager with the occasional 4 or 6 pack of whatever's less than $10 lasts me about a month for usually less than $40

I would start at a package store? Jack's Abby, Notch, Stone, Lagunitas, Pilsner Urquell, CBC, Sierra Nevada, Otter Creek, Sixpoint, Firestone Walker, Ipswich, etc. I typically find that when I limit the selection to 6-12pks that are reasonably prices in the style I'm looking for with a package date of < 45 - 75 days I'm only left with a couple options anyway.

Last week I was surprised when I left the store unintentionally with three budget beers, Toppling Goliath Pompei and Golden nugget we're both $10.99/4pk and fort hill checkmate chuck was $10.99/6pk. All three are killer. Everything fort hill is great for the price.

Sam adams NEIPA goes for around $9.99, solid beer out of the can. Otter creek is also "cheap" and very good.

EDIT: now that i'm thinking about it the TG might have been $12.99, but still not bad for the quality.

+1 on toppling Goliath. Modestly priced and still good even if it’s a few weeks out by the time we get it

Wow, we've gotten to the point where $10.99 four packs are considered budget beers. There are a ton of sub $18 12 (or 15) packs out there by the regional brewers. Explore them.

A big fan of the Lagunitas One-Hitter Series, especially Born Yesterday and Born Again Yesterday. Picked up a 12-pack of Born Again Yesterday for ~$18 in CT. It's still relatively fresh so I'd suggest seeking that out for a nice wet-hopped west coast IPA.

All of my friends that have kids have more beer. Wife wouldn't drink as much incase of emergency.

High Life, Narragansett, or PBR are my go to cheap macros.

A lot of the better value crafts have been covered, but I would add Founders All Day IPA, Oskar Blues mix pack, Session Black Lager,
