Maybe this is old news, but I think it's the first I've heard of it. Todd posted a link to this article (http://blogs.denverpost.com/beer/2012/03/14/strong-ale-fest-surly-five/2993/) on his twitter feed. One of the tidbits:

"“We are set to release a similar beer this summer that hopefully will become an annual summer bottle release for us,” Haug said. The tentatively named “Pentagram” will also be 100 percent Brett fermented and aged in red wine barrels."

I say again, sort of, because I believe Pentagram was the name they gave to the single-barrel precursor that became Five (which was bottled, duh). Pretty excited about this. I've been cellaring a bottle or two, might have to break one out.

People at the brewery say it is already in the barrels. I bet they are keeping it on the wraps because Todd doesn't want more of the "when is it going to be done" questions that he had to field for months last time. I wouldn't be surprised if it became an every other year deal. That way they're not rushing to please the beer geeks and they can take their time aging and blending it to perfection. I know many like Five and I did as well though it was qualitatively a lesser beer then most of the brews they produce. I have a feeling that the 2nd batch will hit the sweet spot though because they'll have more time, and less pressure to put it to market. Just my 2.

Awesome. I've been hoarding my last 2 bottles of Five. Glad something similar is in the works!

When I was there a few weeks ago there were a bunch of barrels stacked up in the back storage area. I was having such a good time drinking beer I forgot to ask the tour guides about them.

Three and Jesus Juice were different.

Jesus Juice was the red wine barrel aged version of Three.
