I found the closest place (most likely) with Surly, Half Acre, and Pipeworks to the IN border (I walked it this afternoon). http://united-liquor.business.site/ I was so prepared to drive like half hour for pipeworks the other day.

I've been in there a handful of times when it used to be illegal to buy beer on Sunday in Indiana. I was walking over to the carryout greasy food after going to windmill today and figured i'd stop in. Was never really impressed with their selection but, now I know where i can get daisy cutter after mowing the lawn without driving half hour. Yay!

If I recall correctly, the first week of June was the date for 18th St. Barrel Aged Massacre (the last 2 years). Not that my wallet is crying out for pain, but I am wondering if the event has been placed on hiatus.

Not to rehash the last 2 years of comments, but I do wonder how profitable it was the last 2 years given turnout vs a "normal" day during those same time frames.

I hope I didn’t come off as wanting to beat a horse. It is an event I have attended, and would attend again under the right circunstsnces.

Oh no, you were fine. I was worried that I was the one beating the dead horse .

Hi all - I'm staying in downtown Indy Thursday night for work. Any recommendations on a good beer bar within walking distance? Googling seems to point to a lot of places up north a little ways from downtown. I see Yardhouse and World of Beer are options downtown. Anything worthwhile downrtown that's not a chain? Thanks!

Tomlinson Tap Room has 20 rotating Indiana only taps. It is a great stop

20 Tap on College Ave. has more of a low key darker pub vibe that has way more than 20 taps of good midwestern beer

Tomplinson Taproom in City Market, Tap Mass Ave. Downtown Rock Bottom for bomb NE IPAs (if available), and potentially a killer stout or two.

I work at Sun King (seven blocks east of the circle at Market and College Ave.) and we've got 30+ beers on currently, if you're into that.

    It's the 20 listed here: http://www.sunkingbrewing.com/tap-list-indy.html
Plus another 10 or so from our Small Batch Brewery.

I'd also second Tomlinson Tap Room.

From an outsider perspective it did not seem like the Barrel Massacre was ever (at least the past few years) very successful, tickets were available for a long time and in 2016 only 400 (?) people attended (they claimed it was a capped at this). Even small breweries can draw 400-500 for a barrel aged release festival. It seems that they make a lot of poor business decisions, which turns off a lot of people and the quality of their beer is very inconsistent which also turns off people. I don’t know Drew (owner) personally, but from seeing him around the brewery and through social media, he comes across as being about the “Rock Star” brewer lifestyle. It seems like every other week he is overseas at some festival or working on another collaboration (as evidenced by the numerous “badass” photos of him). Now he is adding a distillery to the mix; only time will tell how that will affect things. I just hope it is not another overpriced whiskey producer that makes average whiskey at best. I am not trying to dump on 18th Street, as I have had many great and several exceptional beers there but I would be remiss if I did not mention the above criticisms.

I went over to Devils Trumpet the other day. Great place but, a bit on the expensive side for 6 packs and bombers. They did let me try every single tap for free before buying anything though. Apparently you can even get Portillos delivery.

They had 11 beers on draft. None of them where particularly bad and a few were above par. Night Goat is good if you like coffee and they had 2-3 ipas/PAs that were better than average.

There's a few bottles of their...BA stouts (whatever it's called) that @GuyFawkes suggested wasn't bad, but I refuse to buy it because it's at least $24 pre tax. Not happening =/.

I bought my bottle as part of a gift certificate purchase. It was pricey, but the Heaven's Court was actually damn good in my opinion.

I've been to the same store since & didn't buy it again when it was on my dime due to the high price.

Yowza! That’s high! I know I’ve paid more than that for other beers in the past (and likely will again) but, I’m trying to spend less on beer and reduce my cellar.

I get a liitle sad thinking about how the incredible buzz during the first year has evolve into virtual irrelevance. Your accessment is spot on.

Don't kid yourself, you are an incredible dead horse beater.

I'm hearing that Sour Note is going to open up within the next 1-2 weeks; the head brewers there will be Stick and Oz, two former Cigar City brewers (at least that's what I was told).

I'm also hearing other things, but which I'm not going to post here.

It will cost you a beer to hear more.
