We had a late spring but two of my plants (hallertau mittelfruh>) are up to about 6 feet now. Another centennial is doing good for a second year plant. Also taken a bunch of cuttings from both types and have planted a second year HM in a local park in a sunny spot. Still got some saved from last year too, I've not been able to brew in months

Where are you finding those rhizomes? Are they readily available in Scotland?

There are many hop plant/rhizome sellers in the UK, and I probably contacted all of them trying to get some can't find in the USA hops. Between continental Europe and the UK, customs is much different then trying to get the rhizomes/plants to the USA so different varieties are easier to come by.

I think I used willingham nursery or A1 hops for mine. It seems to grow fine so far

I was talking with Willingham for over a year to try and get Bullion. I stated up front that I would pay extra cost to get it to the US and he said it would probably cost about $100 more. Then he stopped replying around March... Oh well, this lead me to the USDA and the found out by contacting YCH, that they want to replant their fields of Bullion so I will get my hops after all.

My hops have almost topped out their trelis now. They seem to like the cool rainy weather we've been having this spring.

We got big rain over the weekend and the cones are a swellin. Not the best yeild this year due to the lack of regular rain, but what's growing looks good.

My Chinook and Cascades are really close to be ready. Will be harvesting in two weeks most likely and going right into the kettle for my yearly wet-hop IPA. This year, will be the first time I use these hops alongside something other than chico ale (going with London Ale) and also adding some support dry hops as well, not sure which. Got to work on that recipe soon here!

My chinooks always smell incredible... Def plan to go heavy handed on those vs. the cascades which don't smell nearly as impressive, always a bit more herbal/green even when they are 100% ready to go.

Planted my first hop garden this year. However, due to late spring frosts I was delayed in getting them into the ground. They are coming along well and looking strong but a lot shorter than I would have liked by this time. I planted Centennial, Galaxy and Nugget - 2 of each. Didn't want to go overboard as I don't know how well they will like the northern Maine weather and relatively short growing season.

My best producers are cascade and nugget. All the rest are ok when comparing yields. I do not grow Galaxy, where did you get galaxy rhizomes?

My screw up. I called home and asked the wife to check which hops I have identified and it isn't Galaxy it is Crystal. I was thinking of the Australian IPA I brewed using Galaxy I guess. They are nice hops though!

Same here. Went out this morning and my cascade, fuggle and nugget went from nothing to nearly full cones over night. Guess I have to water more. I feel I am going to have a ton of columbus as they took off too.

Was going to say, if you have Galaxy, you need to tell me where you got it. Survey says a lot of local breweries want it... A lot of my first year plants are short too. I have many in the 7-10 foot range but they look like they will be packed with hops. My nugget, comet and columbus are the only ones to get near or over the top of my lines.

Mine are a bit lagging for 2nd year plants. However this is the first year they’re getting the attention and care they need so I, hoping for some sort of harvest this year!

i had 2 bumper crop years with the columbus, now they are just average.

another grower i know has had similar issues and we both think it is crown rot. same with tetnang. everybody else is fairly steady.

and of course the foundry hops that get no caring are looking outstanding. must be super ground.

Just wishful thinking on my part because I really love its flavor and aroma. I get Galaxy pellets through Northern Brewer on very small batches of course! I know they are proprietary but they are also derived from Perle which I don't know patents and such on that. Plus I have never used Perle so I don't know how close they may be.
