I find goses to be awesome summer beers.

My Summer beers are usually Fort George's Quick Wit and Rueben's Gose.

I really miss the days of having De Garde's Bu Weisse being all over town for $4.99 a pop.

I test drove some warm weather beers today, since I was out on my bike and the weather was...uh...warm.

Upright Saison Vert was a charmer, crisp and light and citrusy, but with enough depth to be interesting.

The Weihenstephaner/Sierra Nevada hefeweizen collab Braupakt was tasty af, but a touch heavy for warm weather drinking. This is not a drawback. It was a very tasty beer I would be happy to drink again. And it looks like a hazy IPA, so you can flex those style points in front of all the other haze bros.

Bale Breaker's Raging Ditch was probably the only blonde ale I've had in the past 10 years or so that I would order again. A very tasty blonde that finishes with a good hop smack.

    Today's winner: Saison Vert.

When I checked in at Upright yesterday on Facebook, I wrote:

"The new bar is lovely. So is the Saison Vert (not "vurt") on this warm afternoon."

The number of people in real life who call me "vurt" or know me as "vurt" is kind of an amazing number.

As do we all. I used to wake up on Sunday mornings and make Bu-mosas.

My go to hot summer beers in no order:

    Occidental Hefe
    Breakside Pils
    Pfriem Pils
    Weihenstephaner Braupakt
    Oakshire Sun Made
    Bend Brewing Ching Ching

Floodland’s Grails and Waysigns was a fantastic hot weather beer the other day. Same with Holy Mountain’s Misere Au Borinage. Both low ABV, tart and super crushable.

Had a 32 oz growler of Ex-Novo Perle Haggard Pils yesterday. Really nice stuff.

Ha! In the roller derby league I volunteer at, there used to be a skater whose derby name was Pearl Haggard!

Put some mandarin oranges, vanilla bean and a touch of maple agave in a french press and ran some Modern Times Order of Hermes (Super Berliner with pineapple, passion fruit & dragonfruit) through it.

Delicious summer drink. Really recommend these fruited Berliner Wiess in general. Nice balance, no flavor profile too overpowering.

Love a good gose from Reuben's or Fremont. Chuckanut lagers are always appreciated this time of year (even the dark ones). Can't think of a standout Wit locally off the top of my head atm but wouldn't mind one here and there to add a little spice of Belgian flavor. Tropic Haze from Silver City is my IPA for summer.

Dang, I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for all these. I can't get 6 packs from many places locally (cuz Albertson's selection sux). I tend to imbibe on draft when out (or my beers at home). Only really good summer drinker I've found around town (Eugene) is ColdFire's Pilz. Other than that there isn't much I like. Ninkasi's Helles Belles is way to bitter for the style. Manifest is making some really interesting and delish berliners, but none packaged. I really enjoy a good Wit or Bavarian Hefe, and love session strength Saisons. I tend to brew them all since I can't find any easily accessible here in town (or at least affordable and tasty).

    My local (Portland area) favorites:

    Breakside Pilsner
    54'40" Cascadia Kolsch
    Ecliptic Starburst IPA

Happy to see one or two wit recommendations here. I've been looking.
