OB indicated the change over was happening in February, the one I drank at OB had a canning date of 4/06/2018 or something like that, I remember it was about 2 weeks old on 4/20. Def the new formulation.

So once was a Colorado-brewed lager:
Not sure when they dropped rice and went with corn syrup (dextrose, according to MC's website), sometime in the 1990s-2000s?. Coors even bought a rice milling company (Welco) with plants in CA and AR in the 1970s.

Coors is one of the few brewers who ever officially listed "refined starch" as an adjunct (in promo material, anyway, not on labels) and likely all corn-based. Coors owned a corn-milling plant in Johnstown, CO called Golden Technologies which was later spun-off in the 1990s, but continued to supply the brewery with starch.

What you remember was brewed at the small Warren location. My industry friend said that it is now Brewed at Brew Detroit, a contract facility. They have a larger brewery that has not gone into production as far as I know.

I just tried Epic Blueski and I found it quite delicious. Bottled.

Tough to beat the Bierstadt crowler prices if you're anywhere near there. I wish I was closer.

It's really weird that lagers seem to be catching on around here. I don't know what to think. I just hope people don't treat them like another passing trend. It's a lifestyle.

Not to sound like a Hipster, but I was hoping and waiting for Lagers to come back around again several years back when everything that was being released was hoppy and more hoppy than the previous. Never got into in and was just waiting for the amazing options we have these days. It sure is a Good time to be a Lager drinker.

Rockyard Brewing in Castle Rock recently rebranded and scrapped their old brands/recipes and came out with a new lineup. Their “Primadonna” Pilsner just won gold in the a World Beer cup for German Pils. I picked up a 6 pack and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t care for their old line up but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve tried from their reinvention.

I wish they weren't with such a crappy distributor. We rarely see their beer north of 70.

Comrade's Mexican Lager was delicious. I am not sure what a good Mexican Lager with flaked corn should taste like but whatever they were going for they ended up tasting really great! It comes across like a helles lager with a smidge of corn sweetness and good noble hop aroma and flavor. It's like a fantastic AAL. They get a lot of well deserved IPA love but they are a pretty well rounded brewery.

Sigh. It pains me when Prost does this. Seems like it's every six months now. You'll think they've turned a corner and then they go right back.

On the other side of the coin, I got to try the Rockyard Primadonna Pilsner this weekend and it's excellent. Not sure I personally think it's the best one in the world, but it is damn good.

This is my first time encountering diacetyl in one of their beers, unfortunately it's the one I love most from them.
On a sidenote, Rockyard may very well be reaching "killing it" status with their beers. I just hope more people give them a second chance.

I think the new can art will go a long way for the Rockyard. They really stand out. Seems like they have a really good team and they're more active with their promotional efforts, too. I'm going to have to head down there one of these weekends and check the place out in person. I haven't actually been to the brewery/restaurant in like 7-8 years. I've been to Germany more often than Castle Rock, and I still always giggle whenever I see Rockyard stickers and logos in Munich.

As far as Prost goes, I think they're batting .500 since Bill left. Sometimes I'll swear they're back to world class only to have something disastrous 6-weeks later. At this point I ask for a taster at places like Patxi's or Rheinhaus that have Prost taps. For bottles, I don't bother. There are Maickbocks at Dry Dock, Bull & Bush, and Comrade that treat me fine. I don't need risky bottles.
