Dark Lord (2018)

I have to hand it to Three Floyd’s they always find a way to make it interesting! For me the following represent the beers, prima facie, I would be most excited to get: MARSHMALLOW HANDJEE, CHEMTRAILMIX, HUNG DRAWN N QUARTERED. The following are the beers that I am intrigued by: GREATEST TEACHABLE MOMENTS, FRENCH VANILLA MILITIA, SPACEFORCE. Honestly all the rest are on pretty equally footing and I will approach them with an open mind but I am not thrilled by the barrel treatments. To me the biggest wild card is GREATEST TEACHABLE MOMENTS, I can see this either being really good or really bad.

 

And they had the brandy barrels there and filled them with leaves and peels instead.

 

So Spaceforce is just FVM in a different dessert wine barrel...awesome

 

We'll see how the variants taste but it seems like they have set this up to be a great year..

Variants tapped all day finally makes DLD feel like its celebrating Dark Lord. And guest brewers will have to bring the heat to take any of the attention away from BA FFF offerings.

Lots of potential. Cant wait

Consideing now well received some recent Port BA stouts have been from Pipeworks and Alesmith, I think the Port one should have high expectations. And then a few of those other barrels are from Port-like beverages, we could have some really nice variants.

 

It wouldn't be FFF if I didn't have to Google some of the barrels...

Some of these sound seriously fucked up. Lounge Against the Macromachine and Greatest Teachable Moments sound weirder than some of the ones we made up. I missed who said it, but I agree, stick FVM in those brandy barrels, 16 might be the best beer I ever had. Not thrilled about those bottom 4 non-adjunct either. The Pipeworks Port Abduction is solid, but I'm not sure Dark Lord level sweetness works with that.

On the plus side, it looks like a ton more variants than usual on tap, which should make for a fun day that I don't remember.

There aren't any bottle counts. That makes me believe there are a lot of Handjees this year since it is the only regular bourbon barrel (and it is on tap a lot, meaning they feel they have a lot to go around). The new/potentially "bad" could be like Scotch last year and not take a large portion of the bottle counts.

11 does suck for people who HAVE to have every variant for their collection

Interesting GTM and LAM will not be on tap, my guess it might be the lowest bottle count then.
