    Today is Syttende Mai, which is Norway's national day. I am 100% Norwegian. Every year, except when I have gone to Norway or Stoughton, WI, I have celebrated this holiday alone. Today, I am going to go on a voyage west to search for Norwegians to drink beer with. I start my journey with this amazing breakfast beer. After some porch time, I will begin my quest.

    Probably the most classic Düsseldorf Alt, made unique by Uerige's own yeast culture, lending this a slightly tart and estery note that blends in very well with the bready malt and grassy hops. Great Alt, but is it really better than Schlüssel? Tough one.

    A cool and bright morning requires something along the same line . . .

    Light yellow color with white cap and lacing.

    Mild citrusy aroma and I believe I can detect a touch of tea.

    Taste is brightly tart in a lemony sort of way. The citrus is prominent here with everything else following. Flavors are simple and straight forward, the combination being bright and cheerful.

    Good morning and good afternoon BAs! It's starting off to be another hazy, cool, threatening-to-rain-at-any-moment day here in NW PA. Since I got the lawn mowed yesterday I guess I'll try to fertilize my crop of weeds in the side yard today. Mrs. Lizard is taking off for the Caribbean Friday - another quilting cruise - and I'm spared! Been doing a LOT of laundry while she roots through her store of clothing to find what still (or finally) fits. Goodwill will make out well today.
    Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I last had back in 2009, years before I joined BA:



    I think this will be the first time I've drain poured a bomber. Please note that I've refrained from posting Bon Jovi's "Bad Medicine"!

    When the wife is away, the vinyl will play...not because she is anit-music or anything, it's just that I have the turntable set up in the den with our desktop PC, and she uses the computer quite a bit to do her school speech-and-language pathologist reports and surf HGTV-styled home improvement web sites...Thursdays are great because it's a normal day off for me and a work day for her...balance is the key...
