What were all the Dark Matter products this year? Didn't get a solid look or description of them all. Someone mentioned something about gin and now I'm trying to figure out if that was lost in drunklation.

And I haven't said this enough already, but lookin for a Lounge ! :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you ready the thread? I don't think yours is an unpopular opinion, as it has been voiced on here probably 10 or so times in the past day+. Pretty much everyone is in agreement.

I realized that with someone else apologizing for line cutting, I should apologize to the people behind me in the 4 pm Handjee line, if you're out there. I think I had about 7 people come in line with me, but in my defense...we were mostly just sharing. Most of them left before we even got close to getting pours, and just a couple guys were left with me (who I was going to buy pours for anyway). Good thing there was plenty of that keg to go around as we were able to get second pours as well (and maybe third pours...things got pretty hazy at that time!), so hopefully it didn't really impact someone missing out on a pour.

I was a later arrival (1:30pm) due to getting group E this year. It felt like a completely different experience compared with other years (when I was early). Shares were not as amazing (but still good) and there were a lot more people than I anticipated later in the day. Still good but I think I’d rather be an early bird.

I preferred the posting of variant tapping times. This was the first year I actually searched out and tried the taps. Sometimes I got lucky and got what I wanted, other times I literally wasted an hour standing in line for nothing. But there seemed to be plenty of friendly people who let you try as you were waiting in line and they came prancing along holding 3 or 4 cups of a variant (please limit next year). I was able to try Chem Trail (perfect balance of cincamon sweetness), Handjee (oh my this was so good), Cavaliero (didn’t care for it, had a weird ending taste), and Hung Quartered (it was ok; the rye taste was too strong).

My aloccation has Brotilla. I think I might let this one age for a while. My sister gave me her Hung Quartered which I traded for FVM ((and a few extra Half Acre beers). I’ll likely drink the FVM sooner rather than later.

I'm all for the posted tapping times. put it in perspective: wait an hour or 2 with your buddies while bottle sharing for pour>S< of MHJ, CTM, FVM, etc or pay an arm and a leg in rare bottles to try to trade for one. simple choice.

I think everyone is glad they had all the variant kegs available, it's just that posting the times probably creates more of a mess in terms of lines. If they have the same # of kegs available but don't post times, it would hypothetically reduce some of the lining up that occurred. Granted, the lines would still get really long once word got out they tapped Handjee, CTM, etc., but it seems like it wouldn't be as bad. Who knows, though.

And I'm with you, that the waiting in line for them just ended up being one more spot to share bottles, so it certainly didn't ruin my time at DLD.

We said fuck the lines and stood in a circle jerk with our beers and shared with people as they passed by. We were by the band stage towards the back. Canyon of the Skull was pretty terrible but everything else was somewhat decent. Who was the "special" guest that came out in the suit with All Hell?

only my 2nd DLD so no expert by any means but knowing the schedule ahead of time gave me much more focus to pace, enjoy the variants, not get shitfaced by noon bottle sharing and not moving around the festival grounds. more checkout systems and smoking out the line cutters I would be all for but I really enjoyed the challenge hunting down the variants this year. guest drafts however totally alluded me this year.

Overall, ‘twas a good day. The variant lines were about as expected. The few times I had to wait, it went by quick, between sharing and having good conversations with people around us. No one cut in line by us, and everyone was super cool.

With the huge expansion coming, it’ll be interesting to see how DLD changes next year.

    Yes. Very good.

Did anyone try the brotilla? I pulled that one, but have seen zero opinions on it.

Yeah. That’s my main issue with the “justification” as well.

I agree with her that while unusual, they were clearly just having a good time and harmless fun in the pit.

But taking the time to walk all the way to the pora- potties, and then not use them, is just asking for trouble from security.

Brotilla was one of my favorites, honestly. A little sweet, but definitely good. It may mellow if you let it age.

one thing no one really mentioned was the weather was perfect....70 and cloudy so the sun wasn't there to dehydrate folks.

Some people I know tried it and said it was good. I had Brotilla as my variant for part of the day on Saturday, so was glad to hear it had some positive reviews. My guess is that it's sweet, but still really well done.

Yet I somehow still got sun burnt AF. Even with multiple applications of 70spf. Guess the Dark Lord insisted on my initiation by fire...

I tried the sherry on tap, and I couldn’t drink more than 2 ounce because it was so sweet.
