Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

Finished my last gin barrel MMB over the weekend.... wish I would've bought a LOT more...

 

The official day has been announced. Updated over Twitter - again, rather than the website - here's the Psychedelic Cat Grass release.




There you go. May 25th for some fresh, dry-hopped action. These Spring releases are coming fast and furious.

 

Bourbon Huma was at Meijer in Traverse City over the weekend so I'd guess it should be everywhere within a week.

Still haven't seen V.2 variety packs anywhere, including the pub weirdly, but still see a heck of a lot of V.7's from last year all over the place. Places probably want to clear out most of their current variety V.1 packs before getting a bunch of the new ones I'd guess...

 

I literally just came here tonight to ask about the variety pack. I still havent seen it in the Metro Detroit area either. I hope it drops this week, but normally you see it for sale at Short's Mart a week before it hits stores and as of now they still only have 2018 V.1 listed for sale on the site. It is weird that they did have sixers of the individual beers on sale at SM for the past month when they normally sell it a week or two before release, so who knows when it will come.

 

Just had my first Hopstache of the year. So good, definitely one of Shorts finest! Also snagged a sixer of Melt my Brain, can't wait to crack one of those open next.

 

Anyone know approximately when in June Freedom78 is expected? Thanks!

 

Typically about a week after they announce the release. It's very rare to hear anything further out than that.

 

Today's haul. Couldn't wait to dig in. Bourbon huma is better than I expected and came as a nice surprise!

 

Bourbon Huma seems to be available at all Busch's, and is still on shelves near me in South Lyon. BTW, welcome back, Andrew! Been a while since I've seen you here.

 

Just bought a v.2 variety pack. Most excellent stellar awesome, new style was great,enjoyed London fog but did not care for the lactose in it. Haven't tried the oatmeal stout yet

So, Short's picture today on IG looked like a can of Psychedelic Cat Grass...was there an announcement about it coming in cans? I wasn't sure if that was just my mind playing tricks on me or not.

 

It was out in cans last year, but only to some Non MI accounts. Assuming this year will be the same-ish.

 

OK...I only got it in Michigan back in August when it hit. I don't know if it even hit the Chicago market last year. It's interesting that they differentiated can/bottle by the market.

 

Sean said this about the cans last year and they did end up getting 4 cases of them at the pull barn and Short's mart. I don't know if you guys remember, but PCG shipments out of state had to be cut due to the canning line going down and lower yield than expected. Still, quantity in state was way up from the first year so I expect the same for this year, but I'm hoping we see some cans too.

 

Reading that map it looks like Illinois is draft only this year? Bummer. Last year bottles hit distro here. Was hoping to pick some up this year as I missed out on it last year. Seems our distributors weren't up to the challenge this year.

I see a lot of grocery stores getting Cat Grass. I believe that happened last year too although I didn't come across any at Meijer.

Does anyone know if the grocery stores get their shipment Friday like the liquor stores or if they get it next week?

I'm on the east side if it makes a difference.
