The Alchemist coming to CA

I have never understood some of the logic with the distro world. Even if they had an abbundance up in the NE Kingdom, wouldn't it make more sense financially just to send it over to say Ohio or down to NYC, VA, etc.? Why drive it all the way to CA?

Clearly this has nothing really to do with this thread, I'm all for Heady out here. Just curious.

 

I wondered the same thing. I happened to run into a Stone rep recently and he told me that The Alchemist has some personal ties with So Cal. Similar to the way that Russian River does with Philadelphia.

 

That makes sense, and I hope it means they'll do it more often.

 

More should be released this week for the stores that didn't get any last week. Including some bars/pubs/restaurants.

I smoke a cig with Adam one time outside of my cousin's art show. Cool dude. My cousin has done quite a bit of art for Tool, so he was there supporting.

 

I noticed they had abraxas, cantillon and Fremont in the background. Guessing that is there because it is 2-3 times retail prices.
Never heard of or been to this shop since I am rarely in Long Beach, but it sounds like $15 a can is the norm for them.

 

They purchased corked in lb and from what I was told, the owner fired just about everybody who worked there. Good times!

 

Got two cans each of Heady, Focal and Crusher. While they are very good beers, I am perfectly fine with them only coming around 2-3 times per year. For me, Southern California breweries are on another level as this drop demonstrated.

Additionally, the cost makes it a very easy decision.

 

I have yet to go to CalHeights, but I'm sometimes tempted to. The pricing stories though, pull me back in the other direction.

So I cracked a Heady today. Although it's not as heads and shoulders above as it used to be, still no beer that matches the dankness. It's the only beer that makes think "liquid ganja". Still top tier for me.

They still have Heady at my local gas station here in Escondido for $29.99/4pack, no joke, been sitting there a week. I bought mine elsewhere for $20.99, and IMO they were not excellent, they were good, nothing special. I had them all many years ago, this will be the last time I seek them out. Focal Banger was too malty, I had one of each and gave away the rest to friends. I'd rather have fresh Modern Times or Beachwood cans any day.

 

A can of Head is good once or twice a year for me.
