So does this mean that the beer will have aged 5 months longer than usual? If the originally the release was anticipated to be early August.

I can't wait, regardless, just curious how/if this might be different due to it aging in barrels longer.

no, it was delayed 5 months to ensure that the DR portion was infection free before combining and aging

We usually wake up early and drive over morning of releases with an arrival time of about 4:30. Puts us 100 deep in line or so? ORF has seemed less crowded than BASC, and last year you could roll up late morning and still get bottles.

For both ORF and BASC, 100-150 die hards showed up early but if you got there around 6:00 or so, very few lined up after you. In both releases, you could have waltzed in mid-morning without any problem and picked up your bottles.

Arrived at BASC this year at 5:45am and got wristband #123. It seems like ORF has a somewhat smaller crowd than BASC.

Last year's ORF release was one of the tamest releases I've ever been to. I showed up around 5:30 or 6 and there were maybe 100 people in line, and very few people got in line behind me. I picked up my initial 4 bottles, went to get some breakfast elsewhere, then came back to grab my car and bought 2 more bottles on my way out of town.

I am going to have a hard time telling the wife I am going to two releases in a row. Silent Night release party is the Saturday before ORF. Who's down for a $4$ trade? I can cover the Mother Earth trade if someone else can do the ORF for me.

I'm sure someone will be able to help you out. I was lucky enough to find a couple Silent Nights in stores last year. Hoping i'll have the same luck this year. and i'll be there getting my allotment of ORF for sure.

Whole Foods on Wade in Raleigh had cases of Silent Night sitting on shelves for weeks last year...

Really? I know its a new kid on the block, but I love this beer. Maybe I can make an early morning dash from Raleigh over for the ORF release. The wife can go shopping in Raleigh/Cary for the day, while I do the same

Silent Night was in several Charlotte shops also well into December. It doesn't seem like you need to go to the brewery to get it.

Yep, good chance of finding Silent Night on shelves, zero chance of finding ORF on shelves.

You can find silent night a week or more past the release on shelves and probably at the brewery too.

2010 - available at the brewery for a couple weeks.
2011 - sold out the day of release at the brewery and we had to turn around and luckily managed to get 2 bottles each at Sams (Sams sold out about 10 minutes behind us and no one else had it in the Triangle area that first weekend... the other area shops got it a few days/week later).
2012 - unless they are making a bigger batch, which is entirely possible, I'm not holding my breath to get it at the brewery after release
