I drank two bad boys (12 ounce bottles) at room temp. About 60 degrees. Very good. But am I missing something here? I wasn't blown away. Sure, it was tasty, but according to the reviews, this stuff is liquid sex. I actually enjoyed their porter more than KBS. So I went out and purchased a couple of sixers of Founders Porter. Damn... is this stuff good. Maybe I should look into another stout. Any suggestions that may rival Founders breakfast stout? It was very good, but I am thinking there might be something a lot better out there.

Try it fresh and its way better. Just one man's opinion though.

Yeah I was underwelmed when I tried KBS as well. Plenty of better options out there.

Yeah, at this point the youngest this beer can possibly be is 7 months old. It's still fantastic at this point, but fresh is best with KBS (as far as general opinion goes).

    Also, ISO : KBS, lol.

Edit : Another thing, just making sure you didn't have Breakfast Stout and not Kentucky Breakfast Stout.

Bourbon stouts might not be your thing, and thats ok. Exploring BA stouts gets expensive and tiring (just like belgian sours).

If you do decide to further your quest, try Bell's Black Note, New Holland Dragon's Milk, Brooklyn Black OPS (not my favorite at all, but give it a go), or Hoppin Frog BA BORIS.

You, my friend, are eligible to remove yourself from the mad rush that will occur when this beer is next released.

Is room temp in your house really 60*?

    Berrrrrrr.....

They all can't be the best or your favorite!

The beer was fresh. Perhaps it would be better with age? I'm not into aging. I think I will try other stouts.

Yes.. it was the KBS with the 8.3% abv. Good stuff, but not blown away. Definitely over rated.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you just drank Founders Breakfast Stout, not KBS.

KBS is much stronger, and if you just bought it in stores, you definitely bought regular FBS, which just came out.

8.3% is the breakfast stout, kbs is 11.3%, totally different beers. Breakfast stout wasnt up to par as past years versions. KBS is in fact, liquid sex :stuck_out_tongue:

Did your bottle have a baby on it? I think you had Breakfast Stout. 8.3% is Breakfast Stout.

That's correct. I bought and drank the regular FBS. Tomorrow I'll give their porter a go. Have heard great things about their porter.

So the OP got Breakfast Stout mixed up with KBS? Won't be the first time it's happened.

That sounds like FBS. Also I believe KBS is a March release. I agree with others it is best fresh.

Ha, yeah... I haven't been able to find the kbs 11.3% stout. Is this the better of the two?
