I finally have a chance to do a mid-week release and they’re doing lactose? Booooo.

I can sort of understand using lactose in a high abv but I need to feel a bite in lower abv beers. I’ll pass as well.

Sure, but at the same time some of the lower ABV beers feel like they need a bit more heft.

I know I might get killled for this opinion but I’ve stopped drinking the lactose/oat IPAs because for the most part they taste the same and they’re too expensive. The abv doesn’t even matter at this point.

Isn't it all kind of priced the same?

    $18 for a 6% beer? $20 for a 8% beer? $22-$24 for a double digit beer?

I’ll tell you...I haven’t commuted to the city in more than 2 months and thought I’d really miss buying KCBC, Greenpoint, SingleCut, the occasional Other Half, but...I don’t. I have a store near me here on LI that sells a lot of that stuff, still don’t go.

I’m not buying the beer anymore unless I really want it and it’s the price I want it for.

Just out of curiosity, what are you drinking?

Maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at, but as per OH beers specifically, it's all kind of priced the same based on ABV (like you pointed out), regardless of the oat/lactose presence.

Edit: and while I haven't gone to exclusively drinking beer that's available at local bottle shops and grocery stores, I agree that one can do quite well with those options! #WrenchAllDayEveryDay

Mostly ipa type stuff and German Pilsner. Straight from the brewery (not the Warsteiner and Veltins, obviously). The German stuff is relatively cheap but the IPAs are costing me $14-$16 a 4, The DIPAs costing me $16-$18. My splurge buy is Grimm (which I can get within 10 min of my house, unlike Other Half). I paid $19 for a 4 of Torque Wrench which I considered a splurge but was definitely worth it. Second Wave at Sand City was $16 a 4, straight forward class DIPA.

I agree with you on the Wrench but I also pointed out I think the lactose beers all have a similar taste to me (plus the price). I won’t even buy the Evil Twin lactose stuff which is cheaper. I like a more straight forward beer.

If lactose is what people want, I don’t poo-poo that. I just prefer non-lactose myself. OH makes some damn great straight forward beers and I wish that’s what they were releasing tomorrow instead. I’d drive to Brooklyn and pay a premium for a nice 6-8% beer if that’s what they offered with no line. Yeah, lol, not waiting on a line longer than 5-10 minutes either. I’m high maintenance.

I have to agree with you. Some are just too "soupy" for me. Not great summer beers, and I wish the oats and lactose phase would start dwindling a bit. Gotta do what the Hazebros want though I guess.

I'm ok with OH making lactose IPA's because when the line dies down, the good stuff is left over

Got a response within an hour saying I was on the list and providing some info around pricing and timeline for ordering.

One possibility for why you may not have had any luck. I completed the form on my phone. Once you put in all the info, you have to check that “I am not a robot” box that then makes you do several of those “click all the boxes that contain a vehicle” steps. Once that’s done the page refreshes and takes you to the bottom. Could make you think it’s completed. But I scrolled up and found I still had to click the “submit” button.

The problem today (for me) is that there’s no alternative.

So what are the chances that all 3 are double batches? I think that happened with the Mikkeller/Cellermaker/TMDD release which was the last 3 can release.
