Eh.. it was a questionable post. The first one was fine.

Not sure how well-regarded (or out-of-market) Crooked Stave is these days either.

Looks like the Savor events are starting to drop: CK announced four different ones and MP tweeted out a trio yesterday as well. I think this will certainly be a return to the lineups of '16.

I'm a big, longtime fan. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever scored Crooked Stave bottles in the DMV. I appreciated the post, though I think I first saw it on Facebook.

That's interesting. I thought that I had stared seeing them all over in recent months, so I was actually surprised to see them characterized as out of market. I could be conflating our market with Ohio though, as I've been traveling back there a lot recently.

How is it? Last time it was here, I though it was really underwhelming, which I chalked up to it being contract brewed (by Two Roads).

I haven't had any cans from recent batches but I do want to mention for @BikeChef (or anyone else) that Sip's hop varietal was changed a few years ago. I've never had Sip before the hop change up and I wasn't impressed.

I hadn't heard this, and wasn't able to find any information about it doing some searches just now. Do you have links to any more information about it (when the change was made, from what to what)?

@gdp5 Thanks for challenging my assertion. I had heard this from numerous people in New England last summer and simply took it to be the truth.

I wouldn't be surprised if something had changed though, considering Two Roads and scaling up production a bit.

Edit: OK. They must have been referring to this post from last May where Lawson's used a different lot from a different hop farmer than the one they normally purchase from. I combed back through to the beginning of 2016 and did not find any other batches where they'd announced a change though.

It's also on draft at H Street Whole Foods and they have four packs for 99 cents more than CBC. It's very good for a West Coast DIPA, but it doesn't compare the the NEIPA's I have in my fridge.

I think it's good and I'll likely pick up a 4 pack But don't believe the hype.

And the Savor Week drops begin. Per the CBC-DC social media post just a few minutes ago...

I've been lucky enough to sample 3 of the Freemont big beers (regular B-Bomb, BA cinnamon B-Bomb and BA Dark Star. Although all were solid and quite good, not quite living up to the hype and the very high price tag IMO. Must be the wax tops combined with high cost of living out of Seattle area huh? My only advice is don't overpay for them. Better options out there for lower cost and trade value.

How much do they typically go for?

Anyone know if they sold out of them?

I grabbed the last bottle of tonight's Bourbon Dark Star, but they've got two more cases for Saturday. They also had at least 8 or 10 bottles of BBomb on the counter when I left (about an hour before closing) and have two more cases for Saturday. CBC was charging something like $25/bottle, which isn't far off from what I paid last time I was in Washington state.
