OK, then that's what I will attempt to find in my area.

Gotta trade at this point. It's a one day release March 15th every year. It's 100% worth seeking out. FBS is good, but KBS blows it out of the water.

More good beer has been ruined because people buy into "hype" than any other single factor. Unrealistic expectations are only going to lead to disappointment.

Go into each beer with an open mind and free of preconceived notions. You are not going to enjoy the beer or really even taste it if you go in with others thoughts rolling through your head. At that point all you are doing is looking for what someone else told you was there. Allow yourself to decide for yourself.

If I can't find or trade, what other imperial stouts blow kbs out of the water? I can get Goose Island here at my local place.

I am having trouble following here, we got the KBS FBS thing figured out, but in the OP you say you drank their porter and really liked it, then you say you are going to try it?

Well, that and expecting KBS when you're drinking FBS.

Personal opinion is that KBS is my favorite beer. Something similar? Keep an eye open for Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee in 22oz bottles, red label. Hits similar notes. Should be a February release. Get to the store quick though, as they go fast.

Also, try trading for some Peruvian Morning from Central Waters. Many bottles were infected, but if you get some that hasn't gone sour it drinks like KBS Light.

Probably gone from shelves, but Goose Island Bourbon County Stout(BCBS) is one that is equal but different than KBS. BCBS is a bit stronger on the bourbon and is more sweet, KBS also has coffee in it and BCBS does not.

    OK thanks. Will do.

@Hanzo... I apologize. I tried Mad River's Porter. It was excellent. Their DIPA was also fantastic. These beers are always available down the street from where I live.

Mad River is probably the most underrated American brewery.

Put it this way. If you walk into the store and there is a four pack on the shelf, it's FBS.

if you have to reserve a single in advance, it's KBS.

Better move that down the agenda until it's actually released in 2013. Ten-month-old Hopslam isn't really worth seeking out.

Then your preparation for being underwhelmed will serve you well. Two Hearted is crafted as well as, if not better than, Hopslam IMO.

Founders Porter is wonderful. Probably top 3 readily available every day beers for me.
Founders Breakfast Stout is excellent. I think this year's is a bit thinner, but the flavors are full on perfect this year.
Founders KBS is a very special treat for special occasions. It's a meal.
Founders Imperial Stout, to me, is their best Stout. I love this stuff. Side by side, I prefer the straight up FIS over KBS. I like the BA stuff, but not as my mainstay.

Get em all, pay attention to what you're drinking, enjoy the hell out of each and every one!

All i have discovered overtime is that one mans liquid sex is another mans liquid buddy, i like BS, and KBS generally as they are good beers, but i much rather have CBS, and everyone i tell that to says oh the maple has fallen off its not nearly as good as it used to be yatta yatta. Find your favorite and stick to your guns it is you that has to enjoy it screw the reviews your not missing anything find what you like
