Anniversary Party in January had multiple points to sell. This release was one single cash register that could ring people out, thus the line/wait time.

I got there at 12:00 and there were probably 30-40 people ahead of me in line. It took an hour to get my bottles and get out of there. There has to be a better way to do these types of releases. When the only point of sale is also doing pours for people, it slows things to a crawl.

Why not do two lines? Bottle only line and a pour and bottle line?

I heard that the line has already extended past the “room temperature draft section”.

Actually, its the ambient temperature rise from all the bodies that naturally warms the lines. Pretty genius!

And when you factor in the hot air that results from everyone in line explaining their genius plan how to make the line move faster, the beer will actually pour slightly warm.

I'm just glad all of these infection issues have soured me (hahahahaha) on cellaring beer. I buy it and drink it fresh, saves me a lot of money this way!

Bravo. This is what I've been saying forever, and why most people here think I'm a troll. It's nice to see some people here have the capacity to learn.

People don't give you grief because you say beer should not be cellared. Everyone that has any interest in cellaring knows that you and large, most beers aren't worth/should not be cellared. There are obvious well known exceptions, including incredibly high ABV BA stouts (Black Tuesday, etc.), Bourbon County, big barleywines, etc.

Moreover, people know that stouts with various flavorings added (via Whole ingredients or extracts) will fade, and will not taste "as intended," although sometimes this improves the beer for some people.

People give you grief because it is illogical to suggest that you should drink a beer within a couple weeks of buying it because a brewery could have made a mistake with the process, and it will go bad. That's the big issue. A lesser one is that if the brewery themselves will sell cellared bottles, it seems hard to believe that they are not (in some way) intended to be cellared. Cellar a case? Maybe not. Cellar a bottle? Sure. Better than fresh? Possibly, but maybe/probably not. Worse than expected? Probably, but "my fault" for the oxidation etc.

Me waiting to drink my beer is seperate and not related to breweries making a mistake, and breweries still own responsibility for those mistakes. That does not fall on the consumer.

I understand and agree with all of that. My point of contention is the inability to own up to the downsides of cellaring a beer. If you cellar a beer and it doesn't turn out as you wished and you can't say "welp, my bad that was a bust" and move on then you shouldn't be cellaring anything.

Moreover there were many people with intentions of aging those bad JO's beers long term. Many posts weeks after release of guys saying "oh I guess I gotta pull these out of the cellar now then". Seems like many of them made no attempt to drink them sooner than later.

Also planning to be there on a road trip and their fucking website can't tell me whether or not they sell bottles at the Public House or not. I assume not, any cryptic hints?
