A week away! For those of you in the area who've never been to the Kickoff Fest, I highly recommend buying tickets to this one; the 10th annual. Besides all of the great beer and eats to be had, you'll be directly supporting the Guild, its members, and the LA beer scene.

    See you there...

Thanks Todd. First time attending, did they provide a beer list prior the festival date? If so, any indication on when we can expect that?

Anyone think it's a little odd not to see Bottle Logic on that list? Bruery, Noble, and Green Cheek are all attending, figured BL would be a given.

Good question. I don't recall a beer list last year, but I wasn't looking for one either. My tactic was to simply find brewers I've yet to try and then just try what they had. Worked out great.

They've put out the beer list each year past. Seems like it was out by this time last year, if memory serves.

I've always been able to get my hands on the beer list prior to the festival.I don't remember exactly where.

Bottle Logic was there last year. Not sure why they aren't there this year.

At least based on last year's thread, seems the list was out the Tuesday before the event (so should hopefully be tomorrow if the same schedule applies).

Does any one know if the VIP is worth it and if the Premium Glass is anything more than the standard (size and or style wise). One thing about all these Beer fest is the lines and seems like even if you want to try all the beers it's almost impossible to do so. This would be my first year here and want to see if it's worth it.

I can't speak for this festival specifically (first time) but VIP has always been worth it for the beer festivals I've attended. The extra hour of minimal crowds to hit all of your high priority breweries is well worth it so you can coast casually through the rest of the festival.

I'm curious what the VIP lounge entails for those that have attended? Hopefully a designated bathroom area with no lines :grinning:

    I do VIP every year.

    Main benefits to me:
    1. I really enjoy the first hour when the crowd is smaller, the lines are short, and you can try most of the things high on your list.
    2. The VIP lounge is great, especially after they let the entire crowd in. Its air conditioned, has bathrooms ( verse porta pottty ), and a rooftop balcony where you can overlook the crowd.

As for the glassware, they change it up every year. Not sure I would buy a VIP ticket just for the glassware. On the other hand, I've got no complaints about the glassware used in previous years either.

I always get VIP to this and it's always worth it. By the time the commoners arrive, I've already tried most of my wants and can relax.

The VIP glassware is usually a different size and style. Honestly, I'd prefer the regular glasses from a beer festival standpoint, but the VIP glass looks nicer in a cabinet.

I've spent a grand total of about 30secs in the VIP lounge areas in the past. Who's got time to chill when there are so many beers to sample???

I'll personally weigh in on the other side, as I don't think this is necessarily the festival to be doing much "whale chasing" at. I just did GA last year and the only prohibitive line I saw the entire day was for Monkish, which, if you live in LA, shouldn't really be beer you're spending 30mins at a 4 hour festival waiting for IMO. Of the multiple beer fests I went to last year, this was probably the most laid-back and I never had issues with things I wanted tapping out. I also remember them doing a really good job with water stations, and there was enough shade around the main building to mellow out in. Looking forward to this year's!
