^came here to post this, possible Momi Hiwa reboot? @AveryBrewingCo
    @rekrappy

    Ahoy, fellow rumscallions!

We are proud to bring you Plank'd, our Rum Barrel-Aged Coconut Porter! Available at our brewery on Sunday, May 20th and nationally in late-May to June.

To celebrate the launch of this delicious and ambitious Coconut Porter, we are doing something we have never done before...selling the barrels that the beer aged in.

That's right, we are selling Plank'd Rum barrels! From 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, May 20th, we will be selling these delicious flavor infusers for $50 a piece.

While we don't recommend that you use them for beer aging, they are great for planter boxes, making furniture, patio tables, bar tables, you name it!

And...what's a release party without some friendly competition? At 3:00pm, we will be hosting a planking competition. Whoever holds a plank position the longest will win a CASE of Plank'd. That's $288 reasons to work on your abs. And, we won't judge if your belly happens to reach the ground.

    DETAILS:
-Plank'd will be on tap and available for sale in our to-go cooler starting at 11:30am.
-Rum Barrel sale will be from 12pm to 5pm. $50 a barrel. Credit Card payment only. Must be able to pick up and transport barrels during that time period. Sorry, we cannot hold barrels for future pick up!
-Planking contest starts at 3:00pm, outside on the patio turf (pe
    nding weather).

I'm down for a Momi return. The few surviving bottles tend to be a crapshoot. Some are quite good while others resemble SA Triple Bock.

Plank'd has the same description as Neckbeard's Revenge. I wonder if that demographic complained and threatened to splat it on Rotten Tomatoes

Speaking of Plank'd on this brisk 95 degree day:
Definitely not on Momi Hiwa level, but still very good. A little on the sweet and sticky side, both the rum and coconut are present but I don't find either overwhelming, it's pretty well balanced.
Alas, no coconut floaties for those who were hoping for them.

    Momi wasn't sweet and sticky?

Oh it definitely was, and I don't mean it in a bad way either, I love sweet stouts.
I found Momi to be a little richer and more flavorful than Plank'd so I like Momi a bit better. But Plank'd will certainly suffice since all my Momi Hiwas have been gone for quite some time

I feel like comparing Plank'd to Momi, while inevitable, is ultimately pointless. You're either making that comparison based on a 5-year-old memory or a 5-year-old bottle vs a fresh one.

That being said, I had Plank'd last night and thought it was very good. Definitely more rum than coconut which is A-OK with me, but the most stand-out feature for me would probably be the drinkability - the ABV is very well hidden and the mouth feel/body is on point (typically a big knock for Avery BA beers).

Anyone try Avery 25 yet? It's an oak-aged BSDA brewed with honey, figs, and dates. After a few years of forgettable anniversary items, this one has my attention in a major way.

Have not seen it around here, at least in the shops I frequent.

    Cheers!

Stores in Denver are getting it right now, so it'll probably be everywhere within a week. I'm going to go grab some this afternoon. I might grab some Van De Kaiser Blue for the sake of comparison.

That's an awesome brew! Been 10 years since last time I've had it. That would be a great one to see around here.

    Cheers!

Drinking a 25 right now. Not sure if I like it or not. It's boozy, really sweet, and thick. Carb is there, but it's not foamy like the native Belgians. It reminds me of a super-powered Belgian stout.
I might get more if I see it on tap somewhere or I might grab a closeout bottle and see where it is in a year.

Liquid deliciousness. #51 of our Barrel-Aged Series is going into Bourbon barrels today. Expect a minty & chocolatey release in December!

If it's anything like Sandy Claws, I'm 100% in

It appears this was indeed Sandy Claws.
Last year's was fantastic. Looks like the ABV is a couple points lower this time around. I just grabbed bottles, didn't try it on tap. I'm hoping it's on par with the previous version.
It was pretty heavy on the mint, so for the anti-adjunct folks this may be too much.
There were plenty in the cooler on Monday. I wish I could have waited until their Black Friday sale where you buy 6 gold foils and get one free, but I simply can't make it, otherwise I'd have 7 instead of a measley 6.

We drank the Raspberry Truffle gold foil a couple weeks ago. Flavor was good (albeit very sweet) BUT there were some really disgusting chunks of sludge that filled our glasses. It was physically one of the grossest things I've had. I am not sure if it was well-aged raspberry sludge (which I've seen many times whilst mead making) or if it was the truffles. Kind of had a gelatinous consistency like brown scrambled eggs. We ended up dumping about half the bottle and had to rinse out our glasses.

Plank'd was pretty spot on tho.

I've only opened 1 when it first came out and I didn't notice any chunks, I'll have to put one in the fridge and check it out.
