Figure 8 Brewing Bourbon Barrel Rye Knot Release

Got mine. Good timing as I'll be driving past Valpo on my way to South Bend this Friday

Ill be up there on Friday. Would have liked to go Saturday to have their black barleywine but that wasnt in the cards.

Excited to have bb rye knot on tap though

..as far as only getting one bottle, im not sure when i want to drink it. I have a birthday coming up soon and then christmas the week after....probably end up drinking bb rye knot on one of those days. Screw waiting

 

Going up there today to get mine. They are saying they have the Bourbon Barrel Rye Knot on tap today per the website.

 

I am picking mine up when the old lady gets off of work later tonight. I plan on trying the Bourbon Barrel Rye Knot on tap tonight. I will let you guys know how it is when I get home.

 

Just left my union meeting. Going up there to try it out.

 

AAR: The Bourbon Barrel Rye Knot is delicious. It is better than I thought it was going to be. It tastes like a stout without the molasses taste to it. Pours black with a nice coffee colored head. It is $2 for a sample, and $6 for a half snifter. The cashier said that after the keg is gone they will be out of it. Try to get up there tonight, or maybe tomorrow.

The cupcakes are meh. The frosting doesn't have a bourbon taste to it at all. The muffin did have a faint stout taste to it. Split one with the people you are there with. Not really worth it to have everyone get one at $3.

 

Are they filling growlers of BB Rye Knot?

Any hint of the Vanilla beans that it was aged on?

 

no vanilla bean added according to Lynne.

 

Bummer! Still looking forward to my bottle either way.

 

Tasted like a chocolate coffee. No hint of vanilla beans unfortunately. Should have used more if you ask me.

From Figure 8: "Bourbon Rye Knot - our original Baltic Rye aged together with vanilla beans for over 5 months in a Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrel. This blend of seven grains, amarillo, centennial, and warrior hops is super well balanced and is smooth as silk (7.2 % ABV)"

 

Surprised to see that the ABV is not bumped due to the barrel?

 

It's is delicious!!! Picked mine up and had a snifter on tap...left about 8:15 and Lynne did not think it would last until tomorrow...guess I'm posting kind of late as they close in 3 min...

 

Oh well. Looks like black barleywine for me then!

What do you guys recommend for BB Rye Knot? Drink fresh? Let it sit?

That's the description from the first batch they made like 2 years ago.

 

Ate lunch there today and picked up my bottles. Talked to Lahti and he said this batch was in the barrel for a year, exact ABV unknown but likely around 10%. He said be on the lookout for other BA brews every couple months...6 brews in barrels right now.
